Replacing this component fixed the issue of my fireplace not turning on. Not sure how long this unit will run without putting me in the same spot I was before, which time can only reveal, but for now I am glad that it worked.

My gas fireplace was acting up, sometimes the pilot wouldn’t light, sometimes it would. I replaced the full pilot assembly which includes the thermopile and then it worked but the pilot light wouldn’t go off all the time like it should when I turned the wall switch off. I replaced the control module and everything works like new now. An easy fix if you are handy.

I purchased this in December and it worked great after installing. It just cut the gas flow after 15 days or so. Unfortunately I did not expect this and didn’t keep the original packaging to return it on time.

Issue: the pilot light/fireplace wouldn't turn on.Below are the steps I followed to correct the issue:a) First, I unplugged the a/c adapter completely and added batteries to the switch box (part number: 80D0005). This caused the pilot light to work but my fireplace would turn on and off periodically.b) After I replaced the command module (80D0018), the fireplace started to work perfectly again.c) Now I have to replace the a/c adapter since that's faulty as well (I am still running on batteries). Part number for the a/c adapter is 80D0041 for your reference.

Understanding that most items like this work a little differently from the OEM. this so far is doing a good job. The only differences from the OEM to this that I can tell is: 1. There's a built in light that is control by the remote that will not come on but I never used it anyway since it looked cheap; 2. (and i like this better than the OEM) The OEM once it lit the pilot kept the pilot on until you manually shut it off which wasted gas when not in use, the new one lights the pilot to start the burn sequence and when the cycle is satisfied it shuts the pilot off as well as the main flame.

Product was an identical replacement for the gas control module in our Vermont Castings natural gas fireplace. Bought this to fix a pilot light issue; it wouldn't light automatically and if I did get the pilot to light followed by lighting the main burner, the whole thing would shut down about one second later. It turned out that we have a bad 120V A/C wall adapter. Our old gas control module will still light the main burner through spark ignition but will not suport a standing pilot light. This replacement unit will now support the standing pilot light option for our gas fireplace. We cannot find a replacement 120V A/C wall adapter so we are now using four AA batteries that reside in the separate Swith Box (aka Command Centre). In general, this product line (same as Monessen, Majestic, etc.) is built by Hearth & Home Technologies out of Minnesota and has a questionable quality reputation based on other reviews and my own personal experience and therefore only 3 out of five stars.
