Only had to sand just a little thickness off but perfect fit and did not have to file the nut at all on my Epiphone Les Paul

Many guitars straight from the factory have cheap urea.. aka plastic nuts that simply chip from string itterations. Now the channel offsets the height or alignment creating disturbing buzz.I cannot believe Tusq is not the standard for ALL guitars.Thankfully Tusq saves the day.You can hear the material hardness when you drop the saddle or nuts on a counter they have a bright ring similar to glass and bounce..Versus cheap urea that simply has plastic dead thud and do not bounce.Bone was the original upgrade.Unfortunally bone does NOT have a precise density thickness or hardness.I measured my OE saddle with a micrometer.Started off with 100 grit paper to get closeNext monitored and perfected the size with 800 grit to polish and make a tighter precision fit.The tusq hardness really transfers string sound making your guitar louder, brighter. The urea actually cushions the sound making it dull. The tedious work payoff.. You made them,Lil boast story topic, they do not wear out like cheap urea!! You will be amazed the sound, harmonics, loudness and tone on acustic & electric.Highly recommended. Size options some match perfect.. some you need to use your elbow grease. String them up. Tune,NO need to repeat this upgrade.UN-like cheap components! Enjoy your new sound endeavor!

I bought this to replace the nut on my Wildkat. Some prior google research led me to this model. It's just a smidge too short, and I'm getting open string buzzing on my A and D strings, that's why it gets 4 stars instead of 5. I'll probably have to shim it, I don't think a truss rod adjustment will give enough lift. I did not sand the bottom at all and I did not file the slots. I realize this is marketed for acoustic guitars, so if replacing the nut on an Epi electric keep my experience in mind.

I had an issue with a buzz on the high e string of my Gretsch Jim Dandy. I was certain that it wasn't buzzing against a fret but yet I still had this buzzing. I ordered this Tusq nut based on the measurements of my existing nut. It has a more rounded drop off than the flatter top original but I gave it a shot. After receiving the new nut and about 15 minutes of light sanding my buzz was gone. Now I can enjoy my Jim Dandy like I was hoping to the 1st day I received it. If you have unexplained string buzz you too may benefit from a new Tusq nut. Very happy!

The best nut available. A "tuned" high-pressure laminate. Drop it on a hard surface and it rings a note. Brilliant!

I bought the Compensated nut and the Epiphone style nut in TUSQ material to go on my Rogue Acoustic Electric Dreadnought. Also on the guitar is a set of D'Andrea brass tone pins. With proper meticulous measurement and setup, my guitar now rings like a bell with resonances i have never before heard, is clean, has more power than ever before and has a crystal clear long ringing resonance that makes this guitar instantly sound and feel like a much much more expensive guitar. To get an instant idea of how much better this material is than the soft plastic currently in your guitar, before installation, take the old and new peices, and drop them onto a hard wooden surface from a couple inches up. The original part will likely make a dull thud, while this part will sound almost like titanium when it hits. The one thing I will say with this, or any such parts, including the original ones that came with your guitar, is spend lots and lots of time, sanding even and testing and measuring OFTEN. when you get into yourgolden zone, tenths of millimeters of action adjustment can make a huge difference in playability and tone. If you are unsure, go to a professional luthier to install or get two so you can redo if you go too far or mess up.HIGHLY recommended! enjoy!

This nut worked great for my epiphone acoustic guitar. All it needed was a very slight sanding and it fit right in. String spacing is good , height was ok, but I took a little more off. --btw the sound and sustain we're noticeably improved.
