Great little chain hoist . You do need to have access to the handle or have alternate method of moving it unlike the type that reverse from the ground by pulling the chain - I actually have not worked with this type of hoist much- that has the handle to switch between forward - N- reverse or , up , neutral and down. This is a very portable unit that is easily hung and has 360° rotation which is very useful. I am using this to lift things up to my 2nd floor in a two story space I have that only has a ladder for getting to the second floor. In the past I've had to have everything handed up to me by another person, which is fairly inconvenient most of the time. This works well for items I can attach directly to or wrap in some way (using rachet straps and so forth) to hook onto . I thought it might work for a built dumb waiter type set up but am now thinking of using a hoist with more weight capacity or a pulley system for that type of set up . This is working very well for most of my need to move stuff up and down at this time- I am happy with it and would order again. This could work well to lift hardtop off your jeep as well in the right setup.

decent build. will def work for the weight it claims to hold. the chain seems a little cheap, its not even welded at the seems.

I ordered this hoist to use for various projects in my home shop. I was really disappointed with the way that it functions - the whole thing is weird. You need the ratcheting end at the top so that the chain doesn't tangle up, however, because the chain is 10 feet long, the end is too far away and you'd need to use a ladder to reach it.If you turn it around and use the ratcheting end on the bottom, then the chain doesn't work right. In all reality, it would probably work better as a come-along and not a hoist.I was wanting to use it in conjunction with my engine hoist, however, the odd design and functionality of this product makes that near impossible. I would not purchase it again and would not recommend it.

I got this pulley with chain for my husband to use as he’s always got projects going on and moving stuff around but unfortunately the chain was way smaller then we had thought it would be. I think this would be ok for small things but not really something he’ll probably use very often. It does come with a case to store it in which is probably where it will stay.

It's a cute little thing, but it's heavy duty at the same time. The chain is really clean - well, the whole thing is really clean-looking, and feeling. The ratcheting action on it is real smooth. The chain just moves through the sprockets with ease. The hooks are SUPER heavy duty. I haven't tested it with anything REALLY heavy yet (I don't think I even have anything that weighs the 550 lb limit), but what I have hoisted with it was hoisted with ease. It can be just a little cumbersome with it being so small, but, for the most part, I didn't have any problems. I like that it's got a raise and lower function. It also has a pass-through function that just allows the chain to pass through to lengthen or shorten it, but it can't be under load when you do that.

It was surprisingly small and all I had to do was use a stud finder and have my handyman anchor it. Once anchored, I now had an easy way to lift heavy items in my garage. For how small it was, it has a good build quality and is very functional. It's an outstanding value for what you have to pay for it.

This is a very small chain hoist but is well made and it works smoothly. I am used to working with 5 ton and even 10 ton chain hoists so this one struck me as cute but small when it arrived. Turns out to be really useful around the shop. Great for moving engines and transmissions around and for unloading them in the shop or in my shipping container. I could see a lot of uses in a hunting camp or a remote site on the farm or job. The housing is kind of thin so it could become damaged if you toss it into the back of your truck, but the chains and hooks are robust and it works very well. Good addition to the tool box.

I have a big tall shipping container on our off grid property and, being elderly, I am always struggling to get things inside that are heavy like generators, motorcycles, engines, etc. Now the inside height is nine feet and heavy duty attachment rings are welded at ceiling height along the inside. That makes this hoist perfect.I can pick up most things to go into the container with my tractor and can take them to the door with it. So just using the hoist hooked to an attachment ring, I can lift whatever off the pallet and swing it inside on a moving blanket on the floor. Then the hoist can be moved to another attachment ring further in and used to drag the item further in to wherever we want it. My neighbor is going to weld two hooks on the ends of a length of pipe so it can be hooked across the container into two opposing attachment rings so I can lift anything up off the floor. The hooks on the hoist are good quality and have keepers to keep things from unhooking accidentally. The handle can be used two ways. For light loads the whole handle can just be spun around...there is a ratchet pawl to hold the chain where you stop turning. You can also just ratchet the handle up and down to go slower. It is very safe. For only about fifty six bucks, I am happy.
