Great little rope hoist, ideal for doing the repairs to the forks on my motorcycle. lifted the triple tree no problem and allowed me to slip out the forks to do the seals. Handy little tool to have around the workshop.

At first glance I was good with this product. It looked just like a $20 pully/hoist. Everything seemed to be going well until I actually used it. I can only guess that there is something wrong with this particular one based on some of the other reviewers stating that this is a great tool. That of they possibly never owned a great tool or maybe only used this to pick up 40 or 50 pounds. Two Ton NEVER. One ton? No way. I was trying to lift a motorcycle engine that weighed around 130 pounds. I am 6' and 200lbs and I had a real struggle lifting this motor 6 inches. It did help to wrap the rope around a bar. It twisted like crazy no matter what i did. Possibly swivels might help but I doubt it. Half the time at least one of the wheels were dragging or stuck. It was truly an awful experience. Customer service was zero help. The just said to return it. Nothing else. It was a bad experience. Two stars because I didn't hurt myself, break anything and just being kind otherwise, I hated this tool. Officially my worst purchase of all time from Amazon. I am going to try one other the others that look just like this. Hopefully I will have a better experience. Purchase at your own risk You have been warned.

I could see where this will be one pile of tangled ropes, but that’s probably my fault.

Lifting heavy things is not good for the elderly's back. This gives you the strength multiplier to hang kayaks, put stuff in elevated storage, and pull things along.I gave these to the kids, too.Would buy it again.

The ropes are super short and slick - I use them for other things. Instead, I have some 75 meter line, and I use the block and tackle to raise logs and with a bosun's chair that I can raise myself.

great for hanging deer, like most pullys keep an eye on the ropes in the unit

I attached this to a floor support beam in my garage using a chain. I used it to get a john deere riding mower out of my pick up truck by myself because i did not have ramps. I also used it several times to lift the back end of my John Deere riding mower 4 feet off the ground to remove the blades. it works perfectly BUT would definitely be better if it locked in place because otherwise you have to keep constant force on the rope until you tie it off. it only tangles when you do not have enough weight (10 pounds?) on it to keep all the ropes taught on the pulleys.

This was perfect for my needs. Given that I am unlikely to exceed even 10% of the claimed load limit, I am happy with this item, which is essentially a pair of quad blocks with becket for around $10 each.I had been using my sailboat's mainsheet (3:1) to raise the boat's mast. Although it does the job, the weight of the mast (about 200 lbs) requires considerable leverage to get started when raising it. I wanted to get a mast-raising system with a larger advantage, but didn't want to end up spending a ton of money on what is essentially a convenience item.Given the content of numerous reviews, I bought this item with the expectation that I would need to replace the "rope". Polyprolylene rope has its uses - serving as an easy-to-grip rope rated for 4000 lbs is not one of them. I used the original rope one time to test the system's suitability for my intended application. As expected, in addition to being uncomfortably slippery during use, its length (~65') was too short to run all the way back to a cockpit winch.I replaced the original line with 100' of inexpensive 3/8" braided rope from a discount hardware store - this resolved both the length and slipperyness issues. I also replaced the hooks with snap shackles that I already had in my toolbox. I am quite pleased with the result, and expect to get a lot of use out of my new mast-raising system.

This was a huge help in moving a 400 Lb stump. However, on my second lifting attempt I pulled the rope at a tangent to the pulley and it broke. I can't ding it for user error. But, I can suggest making the pulley wheels out of some kind of metal. As a note for others, you'll need to pull the rope nearly parallel to the bock and tackle or you'll end up putting lateral pressure on the pulley and either pull it apart or bend it like I did. The side piece of metal bent and the wheel next to it chipped off a bunch of plastic.I'll be ordering a second one to replace the one I messed up. But, if the wheels had been made of metal I would have flattened the bent side and continued working.

This generic rope pulley block and tackle hoist has been exactly what I needed to solve a particular problem. Namely, for opening my very heavy garage door after one of the retracting springs broke. This product is beautifully constructed and just the right size for the job I had. All that I had to do was center an eye bolt into the lintel over my garage door. That provides an upper attachment point for the hoist. The lower attachment point is simply the door's regular handle. Additionally, I screwed a small cleat onto the bottom edge of the door. The cleat provides a way to secure the free end of the rope once the hoist has raised my door high enough. You should know that I am very old and would have been unable to safely raise my garage door without this product. Although I managed to snarl the rope over the pulleys a few times during careless storage, it has always been easy to restring the device. Eventually, I shall have to replace the broken door spring, but in the meantime this hoist has been a godsend.
