This microscope would be a great teaching tool for an elementary science class. No slides or petry dishes needed. It functions like a normal microscope without all the extra hassle. Has a 4 inch lcd screen with picture perfect quality viewing. 4x magnification a build in light amd a focus wheel for clear images. I used a piece of buttered popcorn for my examples. But we used bugs, coins, grass. Your imagination can run wild. Build quality is unmatched and it's easy to assemble. The battery lasts for 3/4 hours on one single 2 hour charge. Worth the value for the money especially for that loved kne that collects coins and bugs.

This digital microscope is first advertised as having 1000x magnification. Later it is advertised as having 50 to 500x times magnification. But I can figure out no way to achieve this high magnification. The so-called directions are no help whatsoever.0.18 mm Is the approximate width of a strand of human hair. 0.18 mm times 500 is 3.5 inches. The screen certainly does not show a human hair as 3.5 inches wide! In fact the screen itself displays 4.0x, and I'm guessing that is about right as to the real magnification .So why is this advertised as being 50 to 1000x magnificarion?

I have one that does not have the screen attached and you have to hook it to a computer. It was pretty good but having the screen built in is so much more convenient. It starts up quick and the height is adjustable. I can't tell what magnification it is but it is good enough for what I use it for- entertaining my kids. This picture is of a piece of paper to give you a scale. It also did a good job with a sample of dog hair. It's a lot of fun.

My wife wishes I never bought it because everything I find that's super small or suspect I have to look at under the microscope lol. To my defense she's the one that suggested I buy it :)

I ordered a handful of different scopes in this price range to 'scope' them out before i ordered 24 of them for a class. I come with low expectations, but i'm impressed with the quality of everything in this price range. I unfortunately did not have time to assess durability and longevity.Compared to the others i tried, this one has a nicer screen, is more compact, but I did not like the base.- the base is smaller (a strength in some situations) but also has a 'lip' where the post attaches. If you're looking at a circuit board (or other flat item) you can see, at most, 4cm from the edge. You won't be able to see the middle of anything bigger than 8mm (about 3 inches)- The whole column is geared, which is nice because it's more compact than a clamp-plus-gear, and means you can adjust the whole focus range with one knob - but, it is hexagonal and can only fit in the base in one orientation. Other scopes with round tubes, you can put a weight on the base, swivel the scope around, and see something too large to fit on the base. The post is keyed, you can't turn it to fit in a different orientation without modifying the base - which i would do if i were keeping this one. While I really liked the compactness of this one (not much smaller, but noticeable) and the fact the post was geared, i opted to return this in favor of one with a round post.

I'm impressed for the price I paid. The screen is very clear and bright. The quality of the image is very sharp. However, keep in mind that this thing doesn't zoom in or out. It has a height adjustment, which is effectively like zooming. So you can get really close. But the big knob on this thing is just a focus knob. Also, the buttons and the menu system are kinda clunky. Sometimes it seems the buttons don't distinguish between a push/hold very well. Like one of the buttons powers the unit off when you hold it, but I sometimes have to do it 2 times to register as a hold. When you connect it to your PC, it will act like a USB camera. So on my Windows 11 laptop, I was able to open the normal Camera app in windows, and I could toggle between my laptop's camera and the microscope. The LED lights work well, they shine light on the object you're looking at. There's a brightness knob on the side of the screen, and you can adjust the lights. It has a rechargeable battery, so it doesn't need to be connected to power to use it. I don't know how long the battery lasts, I've only used it for 1 hour so far.

This is my first digital microscope, so I don't have a frame of reference, but this appears to be a great deal. The images are clear for the price. I can see how the image quality could be better but not at this price range.I use it to inspect circuit boards.
