My grandsons have spent hours using this and needless to say it has opened up a whole new world. Love it that they are so excited.

Sometimes you can get it to super zoom, but that takes some expertise. For the most part it does a great job at getting close it. Hard to take pics without it being all shaky in the picture, and not as clear as you can view it, but don't know how they'd fix that. We've all enjoyed this. Originally got it for my 7 yo for Christmas, but ended up giving it to 11 yo, and they all want one and like it.

Bought this for my 4 year old grand nephew and he loves it! Easy to use. Fun to see what his pictures look like. He’s a big fanatic and now this has just made me the best grand aunt!

The first microscope for children I ordered (different from this one) was having issues arriving in time for Christmas so I checked on ordering another one. So glad the first one was on a slow boat because the second type I ordered was by far superior! It has many features that my grandson loves. The viewing screen is a big plus especially for a kid. It flips out and is a 2 x 2 " screen making it very easy to see the objects being viewed. The magnification to 1000 is also another plus. In addition, it is possible to take a photo or a video that is saved on an INCLUDED mini SD card. There are settings to change the background color as well as to adjust how much light you are using to view the objects. It is rechargeable with an internal battery. It comes with a cable but you need to provide the 5v 1a charger. As adults, we are enjoying it as well. Unfortunately, the only downside is that our 5 year old grandson doesn't have the focus to learn the operation of the microscope/camera so he needs our help to adjust to the modes of photos and videos. It does have an older age appropriateness on the box. Overall, I'm very happy with this product.

It was a Christmas present for a 5 yo. He was able to use it immediately. He loved the display. He ran all over looking at all kinds of things. Everyone enjoyed it!

My 5 year old has had fun looking at things like feathers from a parrot, and dead bugs up close. It's easy to view the screen, and adjust the focus, but he needs a little bit of assistance with a steady hand from a parent or grandparent at his age to get a good look. We've played around with it for a while without having to recharge yet, and so the battery life seems adequate for young kids' attention spans. The recharge port is USB-C, but it does not recharge with a USB-C to USB-C cable and must use a USB-A to USB-C cable. This is pretty common with devices in this price range, but just something to know. The prepared slides are OK but nothing special. You can find other sets of 10-50 slides of common items online, but if you are going to go that far, you might just want to invest in a compound microscope, which will give better quality and in many cases different objectives for differing levels of optical zoom from 10-40-100x or more. Although the listing states 100-1000x zoom, judging by the sizes of objects and viewing area from the 100 to 1000x setting, I initially felt reasonably certain that it is not 1000x (also 1000x zoom on a traditional compound microscope requires immersion oil for a clear view, due to the laws of physics. To double-check this, I measured a through-hole on an electronics circuit board (raspberry pi zero- 2.5mm pin-spacing) at 1.3mm, and on the 100x setting, it measured 11mm on the screen (basically 10x magnification), and on the 1000x setting, it measured about 31mm (24-25x magnification). So I removed stars for the non-spec USB-C charging implementation and for inaccurate magnification specifications. The manual also states that it can be plugged in via USB to a Mac or Windows computer, and it will show up as a webcam so you can capture images/videos on the computer instead of on the included MicroSD card, but I did not test that, since the main purpose of a device like this is for mobile on-the-go usage, at least with my kids. (If the specifications didn't outright lie about the magnification, I feel like this is probably a 4 star product, but don't want to reward inaccurate listings.)
