I got this to use with my nieces to help introduce more science into their lives. I remember growing up with a microscope and enjoyed being able to look at pond water, blood, leaves, dirt, etc. I was excited that this has an attachment that is intended to allow to use your cell phone over the eyepiece. I was able to use this microscope with the kids and other family, but I think I had higher expectations from my past. The quality is ok for a kids first microscope. I like that it comes with a case that holds everything. It comes with some already prepared slides, blank slides, and the thin square glass covers. It also comes with brine shrimp eggs (sea monkeys), dies, and some others little things to get you started. The LED light works well and the color filters work as expected.I had high expectations for the cell phone mount, but it very much seems like an afterthought. Based on other reviews some people were able to make it work, but I constantly had trouble keeping it steady and centered correctly. I was hoping to use it to allow my parents (not the greatest eye sight anymore) to see some of the things more easily and it would have been easier for the kids as well. It just did not work well and I gave up on using that attachment. The instructions, or as they called it the "Operation Prompt", was very poorly translated English. Between the broken English and pictures, you should be able to figure things out though. We were able to hatch the shrimp eggs and see them swimming around. We were also able to check out the prepared slides along with things like pond water, leaves, fur, etc. Honestly, I would have been willing to spend more for a little higher quality microscope. The knobs for focusing could be finer and the lens could be a little better.Overall this was ok and a good introduction for younger kids.

I ordered this for my eight year old son. It arrived without any pieces missing; it even included an extra LED light bulb! It can operate using the LED light (requires two AA batteries that aren’t included) or mirror reflected light. Using the mirror works, but the LED provides a much better viewing quality. Just like a professional microscope, the amount of light input can be controlled by a spin wheel under the slide holder and it also contains a couple color filters. I went through the 300x, 600x and 1200x lenses using some of the provided sample slides and they all worked perfectly. The microscope itself is made mainly of good quality metal. It is sturdy when on a tabletop and vibration was kept to a minimum. There are extra slides and bottles (for water or solution) so countless objects can be examined. Using the phone attachment pictures can be taken from the eyepiece. This was really a great quality beginner microscope with all the “bells and whistles. I am very pleased that I ordered this since my son has used it everyday and asks so many questions about it. Would definitely order again. Excellent value.

This is a well thought out set in terms of accessories. It comes with 5 pre-made slides and plenty of extra blanks. The 5 samples are very small and quite difficult to line up under the lens. There is a fun shrimp experiment, a Petri dish and various lab tools to cut and manipulate. The knife is dull, the tweezers are clumsy and the slicer is safe but hard to clean. The microscope lacks stability due to its very light weight. Any bump or jiggle will distort your view. The “field of view” is small as in most microscopes but this one seems extremely small making it difficult for your eye to stay lined up with the sample. Any head movement will be a problem. The mirror/light feature is a good idea but the light is activated by flipping the mirror. There is no “on-off” switch. It could easily drain your batteries (not included) if during storage the mirror flipped or that procedure was neglected after use. The one saving grace is the cell phone support. It is placed over the eye piece and the phone sits on top (very wiggly) Once the camera lens and microscope eye piece are tweaked and aligned, you get a pretty neat picture. It takes a steady hand and a pound of patients to get this all lined up. This toy needs adult supervision for the young ones to have any kind of success.

My son has been asking for a microscope he can use. I think this is a great set to introduce kids to the use of a microscope. It has basic supplies included. They get to switch slides, adjust the magnification, and can even make a simple slide. Warning!! It has sea monkeys included ( brine shrimp eggs). If you have ever had to try to grow these things for your kid, you already understand. Our experience has never been great with the sea monkeys. It seems sturdy. I would not say it was sturdy enough to drop on concrete and be ok sturdy. I don’t think it will fall apart quickly with normal moving. I think we will have fun with this set.

This microscope kit has a ton of pieces and is quite the complete setup. The instruction paper does have English and explains where to put the batteries which go in the bottom of the microscope, how to use and handle the microscope. The microscope has a color filter wheel for more color effects as well as three different magnification lenses. The kit even includes a replacement LED for the light in the microscope! There isn't much direction or information in the kit beyond the microscope paper though. But they do include pre-made slides to look at as well as blank slides to make yourself. There are bottles of brine shrimp eggs to grow your own, sea salt, gum media, and eosin dye. And a great addition is the phone adapter so everyone around the microscope has a view of what is going on under the microscope. It really is a pretty complete microscope set and you receive exactly what is shown in the first picture!
