This is a nice introductory scope. Easy to use and fairly durable. Our is mostly used by our children ages 10-15. It is easy for them to manipulate on their own. Only complaint I have had is that they wish it came with more slides, both blank and pre-filled.

Bought this for my kids, was looking not for a toy, but for more real microscope - and I must say I’m very pleased. The microscope itself is quite light weighted, but sturdy enough, and seems to be of good quality. It is easy to find focus, even for my 7-year old, even on the biggest magnification. The tip is to focus the view with lowest magnification, leaving the object in the center of the view, and then enhance magnification, catch focus again, then switch the biggest magnification - and the focus ajusts quite easily. Without knowing this - my child tried to focus on high magnification first, and turned the spinning wheel too much, and objective broke the glass slide. So read the instructions first! The details are seen clearly, focus is almost perfect. One thing I am missing - is possibility to move the stage to the sides: when the object is not in the center of view - it may not even be in the field of view in higher magnification. So you have to adjust it by hand. But that was not promised, and not a big problem at all. Also if you need higher magnification (more than x640) - you may buy additional eyepiece.Great product, after reading a LOT about microscopes I’m pleased to have this one.

I was kind of hoping this was a little heavier made microscope for the price but it's still very nice. My son who's 12 still loved it and it does very well what he expected it to do being the science nut he is.

SUCH A GREAT MICROSCOPE!!!! So many of the microscopes on Amazon are plastic tat. (We have returned a few.) This is not. It's amazing. We plug ours in, and we're good to go. The magnification on this microscope is crisp and clear, there are different colour and lighting options. It's a true microscope. We have been having issue finding slides that reflect the same quality. NO THERE ARE NO SLIDES DESPITE THE PRODUCT'S HEADLINE DESCRIPTION. (If the slides had been provided as implied, this would be a five star review.) Most of the slides on Amazon are plastic and laminated together. DON'T BUY THESE for this microscope. It's clarity is such that the laminating process makes the specimen indistinguishable from the slapped on glue. We use full physical specimens and have been having a blast!

Very pleased with product but even more pleased with their customer service! I bought this microscope to go along with our science curriculum. While the item worked well, the plug fit a little loose causing the product to flicker on and off when moved even the slightest bit. I contacted Aomekie and they sent me a replacement immediately. Very happy with their sense of urgency!

I ordered 4 of these. They all work perfectly and the slides are good quality. These should be very easy for my students to use.

I have a Smithsonian student microscope made of ABS plastic is felt like a piece of toy compared to this one. This microscope is made of metal with pretty accurate adjustment knobs. There are two LED lights. The package also came with 5 prepared slides of epidermis onion, stems of cotton, pine mature wood, stem of wood dicotyledon, and housefly legs, and 5 blank slides. My kids of 8 to 12 years olds were fascinated by what they seen under the microscope.

I adore this microscope and use it to look for ferning patterns in saliva. For literally only a few dollars more than the “fertility microscope” (a plastic thing called “maybe baby”), you can have a real microscope that’s a thousand times easier to use, with a clearer, better image. (See photos.) You can even use the green filter to make it look exactly like the plastic pocket fertility scopes. This is also the only scope I found in this price range that doubles as a dissecting scope, as settings II and III on the light add the upper light to illuminate from above. One big negative:* The reason this review is only 4 stars is that the power connection was malfunctioning right out of the box. You have to wiggle where it connects to the microscope to get the light to come on. I can’t tell if it’s the cord or the port where it plugs in.Other positives:* Easily change light levels.* Easily use 5 different color filters* Dual function as a dissecting scope* Easy to use and focus* Comes with blank & practice glass slides* Small enough to be used by a child* Laboratory quality low-powered scope* Dust cover fits well & protects lenses/scopeOverall, I highly recommend this microscope. It’s only flaw is the malfunctioning power source upon arrival.

Excellent quality for a reasonable price. Much better than the slightly less expensive ones aimed at children. Highly recommended

At the highest resolution it is useless. I liked that it had a plug and didn't always rely on batteries, but if you can't see the slide what's the point? The lightbulb is too blue and dim. At the highest resolution the slide and specimen look almost black. There is no mirror to use a reflected light source. I bought a cheaper, more plasticy kids microscope at the same time and the viewing quality and detail is excellent on that one. Who knew?Edit: the view through the microscope looked nothing like the pics from another buyer at any power, looking at the same slide. I would have kept it if the light was that good.
