Got this for my mother in law. She has dementia and doesn't listen. This device sounds a loud alarm when she tries to get out of her chair. Definitely recommend this my wife loves it and her mom hasn't fallen since we started using it

Loud, loud & more loud! Took a star off for the attachment strap, it's very difficult to thread through the buckle. I replaced it with a small dog collar, which I have to wrap around some things twice to make fit, but at least it has a buckle that's easier to use. Only caution I have is that if you have pets the loudness will be hard for them, it's hard on my human ears & dogs have much more sensitive hearing. But if you need an alarm that will be heard from a couple of rooms away, the next floor up in your house, over the washer, when you're wearing headphones listening to music or audiobooks or outside & across the yard or inside the house - this is it. Priced so much less than the cushion style too, it's about half what they cost & at least 2 but maybe even 4 times as loud - at least it sounds that way to me!. Tip - clip to between the person's shoulder blades so they can't reach & unclip it themselves. Also allow enough slack for them to bend over if they drop something on the floor while sitting in a chair. Personally, I wish the on/off switch was easier to get to when I need to shut it down after it goes off, but it's made that way so the wearer can't do exactly that. Trust me, when it goes off, you WANT it stopped as soon as possible! So, yes, it does the job & serves it's purpose well.

I was highly impressed except for one thing. This needs a volume control. It screeches SO loud my husband, who has dementia, is just freaked out. But the quality is good and was delivered the next day as promised.

Wish I would have bought this before Dad got up by himself while I was out of the room. Now that he is back home after breaking his hip we keep it on him all the time !! The cord is adjustable so it works no matter which chair he is in or his bed. Can be mounted on the wall, velcro to a table or strapped to the back of kitchen or wheel chair. It is very loud but that works great for us. He sure can't get up or out of bed without us hearing it now no matter where we are in the house. Makes for a much more restful night for us knowing he won't get out of bed & hurt himself while we are sleeping,

Met my needs, however alarm signal is very loud. For the price, good buy. Manufacturer should improve product by applying a volume control.

I returned it to the supplier, JDC, and I'm still waiting for a refund. It was piercingly loud, enough to give anyone a heart attack in the middle of the night, especially my 95 yr. old mother. I wish there had been a volume control on it. It could have saved a big problem for me, but I would never subject my mother to that ridiculously loud alarm. I am sad that it was unusable.

Have been using the magnetic alarm for about a month now and have found it to be effective. The alarm is loud enough to be heard a few rooms away. Possibly too loud? I debated on wrapping a cloth around the speaker portion of the gadget to soften the sound a bit but haven't done so yet. Many patients needing monitoring can be quite creative at avoiding the alarm. It's common for them to unhook the clip from their clothing, or in some cases, they take the entire monitor with them. As the physical therapist said, they can be quite the problem solvers. In order to make the unit patient proof, I have made a few simple modifications. The unit is strapped to the headboard with velcro. Next came the duct tape. Duct taped over the on-off switch to keep patient from turning it off. Since the unit is silver, the tape doesn't show and the patient hasn't detected that the off switch is below the tape. Also had to resort to attaching it to the pajamas with a safety pin then duct tape the safety pin so it was too difficult to remove.Would recommend this product to others.

I purchased this item for my elderly father who tends to get up and fall at night. We've been using it for roughly a week now and it works fine, except that the clip that you're supposed to attach to the person's clothing has already broke. I couldn't put the clip back together so I had to improvise and replaced it with one of those large office binder clips (which, by the way, was a brilliant idea because it's way more secure than the clip that it comes with). I gave this item 2 stars because the clip is really weak. Other than that, the alarm works great. It's loud and it's really easy to use.

The alarm worked well, was very loud, too loud but looked like it could be softened with something taped over the area. When I covered the front with my hand it was muffled. I liked how it described it can be triggered from different angles and I did test the clip on my shirt to make sure the clip was stronger than the magnet and it work great.Unfortunately, on the instructions inside the box it states: WARNING: Use of this product by persons fitted with an implanted medical device such as a pacemaker or difibrillator, may be potentially dangerous. Do not place magnet closer than 6" to implanted device. Check device manufacturer's information for more detailed instructions. So I returned it rather than take a chance and ordered a non-magnetic one instead.
