Makita 18V Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. For improved tool performance and extended battery life, Makita created Star Protection Computer Controls. Star Protection is communication technology that allows the Star Protection-equipped tool and battery to exchange data in real time and monitor conditions during use to protect against overloading, over-discharging and overheating. For increased versatility, the tool can also be powered by Makita 18V LXT and Compact Lithium-Ion batteries with the star symbol on the battery indicating Star Protection inside.

Great product as always. This product easily cuts though the stainless steel sheets that I bought the product for. It also goes through 16ga mild steel like butter. The tool is easy to handle with little vibration. While I bought the tool bare (no battery) the run time with 5.0 battery was longer than expected. I assumed that going though metal sheets would drastically drain the battery, not the case.

I bought this for cutting steel siding for a pole barn. This tool along with the nibbler are amazing. They both have their uses. This one won't go over the ribs but does a nice straight cut without dumping half moon small nibblets all over the ground. The nibbler is needed for tight turns or going over profiles. This tool is made in Japan so it's their top tier tools

been doing sheet metal for 20 years..great idea but in the real world not so great..cuts 26ga in a straight line ok.. 24ga it has a hard time.. forget trying to cut any size radius.. not worth the 300.00 bucks.. Im a makita guy and it kinda sucks that harbor freight can sell a 14ga corded shear for 50 bucks you change out the blades for the malco ones and that things bulletproof.. wish makita would offer heavy gauged shears both corded and cordless.. maybe its time to change to Milwaukee.. they do have a bigger slection and seem to be in the front on development of cordless tools..
