Purchased to convert a classroom chalkboard to a magnetic board. I expected it to be thick because of the metal shavings inside the paint. After 5 coats, the magnets barely held on. The surface was gainy. Difficult to apply because it was thick and heavy.

I’ve done about 6 coats this very difficult to work with paint and it won’t even hold the fridge letter magnets (for my children) which weight absolutely nothing. Super let down as I’ve spent so much time trying to layer on the paint.

used this paint to magnetize a kid's chalkboard we bought from Ikea (30" x 21")the paint itself is fairly thick, the magnetic components inside the paint do tend to clump at times when painting.the painted surface was not particularly smooth despite using a foam roller over multiple coats.magnetic effect was limited, you will not get the same effect as other magnetic surfaces, magnets tend to hold lightly. I was able to put a single coat of a regular paint over-top to try to protect the magnetic paint and the magnetic effect was still present. Used most of one can to paint the 30 x 21 surface.overall: decent paint to magnetize a small surface, need multiple coats to improve the magnetic effect. will not provide a strong magnetic pull.

i found it useful on a couple of projects.A dynamite way to add function to a paintedsurface. Easy application.After testing it first, i did find it requiredat least 2 coats in order for it tobe at its best.

This is no magic product, and just adds some magnetic properties after SEVERAL coats. The label says SIX coats MAXIMUM but you will need all six coats to achieve even an acceptable level of magnetism. It takes a certain level of disappointment for me to return anything, and this time I am definitely disappointed enough that I returned this product.New product name: RETURN-IT!

Like a lot of other reviews say, follow directions and don't expect it to be like a metal plate.It is very very thick. Mixing it up took time but was well worth it. But once I started rolling it on it was easy breezy. One thing I would watch out for would be clumping, but I was painting in low light so had difficulty with that.Now that it's done I've got magnetic picture holders and even a home sweet home sign that I stuck a magnet to on it and they are all holding up great. My girly has had lots of fun arranging her cousins pictures.

This was a super fun project for my son’s room! The first can of paint was 5 stars no issues, worked great but needed another can for full magnetic function. 2nd can purchased was a huge clump so had to thin in out to get back that paint consistency. The more coats you do the stronger the magnetic durability. Works great as a magnet board and chalkboard kids love it. Follow the directions and paint several coats and it works as described.

I will edit to add pictures later.I used this to turn a small (maybe the size of 16-20 sheets of paper; I don't know the measurements) classroom bulletin board into a magnetic one. This was enough paint for most of the board. I didn’t do the edges of the board. I plan on getting another can next semester and adding more layers and finishing the edges. It works though! I did three layers in the center and it’s magnetic. But not very through thick materials. I use magnetic clips directly on the wall and it works well to hang laminated sheet that way. A regular sheet of paper holds with a magnet just fine. I think it’ll be even better when I add more layers later. It also dried pretty quickly! That was nice because instructions say to wait an hour in between layers, but I only needed to wait 30min. It was dry to touch after that. You need to REALLY stir it WELL because it clumps together (magnetic properties). Overall, HIGHLY recommend this and really it made my dream of a magnetic board in my classroom possible. (All of our dry erase boards are not magnetic!!!)

i used a whole can on an RV fridge, and magnets barely hold on. so i wont be hanging holiday cards on it with the mangetic clips, but flat magnets work ok

I applied the recommended 6 coats. I have found that this will hold a very small magnet with nothing under it. In attempting to place a piece of paper under the magnet it fell off after a few minutes. I had high hopes, but this product proved to be a great disappointment. Frustrating at best, the end result was the falling off and breaking of my favorite magnet.
