I'm kidding about the car thing. You couldn't pull a car out of the water with this thing.Even if it would hold onto a car, I'm not strong enough to pull a car out of the water. It would be like catching a big fish that you couldn't pull in and having to cut the line.I'd rather cut the line that be pulled down into the dark and blue.Anyway, it will be fun to find things in the water that are easier to pull up...like guns or big boxes full of rare coins.... jewelry...rare bicycles...Or...maybe somebody's trash...like an old water heater or tires still on the wheels? My head is swimming with the possibilities!I watch YouTube videos sometimes of guys fishing with these magnets...and they find some cool stuff.I will be a rich man next time you see me!There's good stuff just out of reach...until you have a big magnet to get to it!

I do like to be honest in my reviews, and to be honest, I did not buy this Junarter magnet to fish with. I bought it because I lost the magnet that I use around the house for a variety of tasks. I live in the country and need a magnet often to find dropped screws from equipment etc. Also I drag it through my burn pile to pick up nails that might have been in wooden objects that I burned. But when I got this kit, all of that changed. I am sure I will use it for those domestic purposes, but I am already planning my magnet fishing trip. This is a great kit. It came in a very nice constructed box. It has a good stout line. It came with gloves for pulling in the wet nylon rope. And it came with two eyelets that screw into the magnet. And also some thread lock to help keep from losing the magnet. I do fish a lot and this will for sure be accompanying me on my next trip. I did not do an exhaustive test on it to see what it will pick up. We all know that it will not pick up 700 lbs. That listing is based on specified pulling tests. It is sort of like the EPA and mpg. A reference number. Anyway, what I did was take a steel ammo can and fill it with old wrenches and sockets. That is pic #1. Then I set it on the bathroom scales, and you can see in pic two that it was about 32 lbs. Then I hoisted it up from the garage ceiling and you can see it dangling there in pic 3. And it held it well. After taking the first two pics my battery was dead and I had to to the house (the garage it is in is my parents garage) to get a fresh camera battery. It was still dangling when I returned. So while this test was done in ideal conditions (flat steel surface and lifting straight up) I am very convinced that it will do what it is supposed to when I take it to the fishing hole. So not only have I replaced my lawn magnet, but I have opened the door to a new hobby. A great purchase for me.

Exploring with kids and this magnet equals FUN! The kids love the thrill of the catch no matter the garbage or small treasures we find. 1 per person will fair better than a group sharing 1.
