Worked for adding a number of drives using a thin SATA cable set, but was having trouble getting past the POST/BIOS, like I was able to with my older RAID card also installed. After enabling UEFI I was able to do so and use both cards. Recommended if you need the extra room and can utilize the m.2 slot on your motherboard.

Needed to add sata ports to my Mini ITX based home server running Truenas Scale. This adapter was picked up right away and works very well.

Today many new motherboards only provide 2 SATA ports, but with a lot of M.2 ports. This product brings the SATA ports back.

I needed some more SATA ports for a home NAS. Installed this in a spare M.2 slot on my SuperMicro X13SAE-F motherboard and it worked well enough right out of the box with no quirks or driver install. It's been running for a couple months without issue and with (from what I can tell) good read/write speeds. The reason I docked a star is because it has an activity light that I really wish it didn't. Could be solved with a dot of electrical tape, I suppose. But overall it's a good, affordable way to introduce a chunk of SATA ports provided you've got the spare M.2 slot.

I had no issues installing and using this adapter. Even the bios picked it up pretty easy. No funky smells, as I read from others. As with any of these type of adapters, just be careful plugging and unplugging SATA cables. Although mine seemed pretty sturdy, I laid it flat and plugged all cables in first before installing onto the motherboard. Speeds are amazing and as advertised.

As mentioned by others, this adapter doesn't work. That said, the device construction is not very good, in-that is does not fit the nvme slot very well, with excessive play.In addition to this, the board is very thin, thereby leading to flex when plugging in cables.

Adapter was installed in a system where the drives and motherboard M.2 slot were tested to work before installing.Pros:- Adapter (and accessories) came as described, well packed with no visible damage. Anti static bag and bubble wrap - you could probably kick the packaging hard without worrying about damage.- Arrived a week earlier than estimated date, deposited in mailbox. (Canada Post)Cons:- It does not work. It has briefly worked once where it recognised all 4 disks in Linux, and once where it recognised 3 out of 4 disks in Windows on another system. All other times have been unsuccessful - just rebooting the system lost the disks. At least the disks are still recognised by their serial number instead of through some interface. If you're using this to upgrade a NAS, there should be no change in configuration to get it work (assuming it works in the first place).- Return does not cover shipping/postage costs.Neither good or bad:- Status lights are quite bright and blue. They turn on during boot, then flash during activity.- Board smells like syrup. The syrup smell gets even stronger when the board is warm, and makes the exhaust air of the computer smell like syrup too. Something I noticed when trying to get it to work.- There is significant bend to the board when plugging it in despite the reinforced bottom plate. The plate is just an unprinted fibreglass circuit board screwed on at 2 points. I suggest plugging in the SATA cables before installing the card, so you can support the bottom.- SATA sockets are also quite bendy. It's hard to manage the cables without the sockets wobbling (not loose, just bendy) around.2 stars instead of 1 because if the adapter had worked, it would've been a good experience all around.

Works to add SATA Ports instead of using a PCIe 3or 4 slot.

Ultimately I think my motherboard (which is admittedly older) did not support this product. Tried doing a few tweaks in the bios settings (setting m.2 as priority, enabling CSM support, etc) but could not really get this to work. So, I'd say if you don't have a more modern computer, come in with the expectation that it may not be possible.
