The drive was pulled from a working machine that I upgraded the HD in. This device wouldn't see that drive when inserted. Returned.

This was a nice, compact, hard drive connector. Although it didn't work for allowing me to recover the data on my SSD it was to no fault of the device. I will be using it for other situations in the future.

This is my first foray into SSD enclosures, having previously (and currently) only used external HDs for backup and extra storage purposes for audio and video production and related needs. This enclosure comes at a very gentle price point and true to its product description, does have speeds up to 10 Gbps for the unit itself. After having run amorphous disk mark speed tests on random read and write speeds (as in the included screenshot), I was surprised to find that the highest speeds only went up to about 1 Gb/s, aka 1/10 of what I thought I should expect. After doing some research, I found that this is typical. The general consensus is that speeds depend on ports (Thunderbolt 4 here, aka up to 40 Gbps), enclosures and cables (rated up to 10 Gbps here), hard drives (rated to 7.4 Gbps here), and the fact that ports partition usage due to use case and the like. The actual expected numbers given the fastest enclosures possible for the corresponding ports are as follows.TLDR: the port ratings translate to about 1/10 of the expected speed IRL.USB 2.0: rated at 480 Mbps --> actual: 40 MBpsUSB 3.0: rated at 5 Gbps --> actual: 450 MB/sSATA III: rated at 6 Gbps --> actual: 540 MB/sUSB 3.1 gen 2 - ASMedia ASM1142: rated at 8 Gbps --> actual: 813 MbpsUSB 3.1 gen 2: rated at 10 Gbps --> actual: 1 GbpsThunderbolt 2: rated at 20 Gbps --> actual 1.6 GbpsThunderbolt 3: rated at 40 Gbps --> actual: 3 GbpsThunderbolt 4: rated at 40 Gbps --> actual: 5 Gbps maxSo in short, the rate limiting step is the slowest piece of the puzzle, which in this case is this enclosure. Its 10 Gbps rating should provide an expected approximate 1 Gbps of read and write speed, which it does as seen by the benchmarks. As speed normally goes, more money gives you more speed with the newer, faster, better technology. One would have to price up substantially to get a 40 Gbps enclosure for up to a 5 Gbps transfer speed.Other considerations of which you should be aware: Some enclosures are protective of their SSDs and physically enclose the SSDs in a screw in one time deal literal enclosure. This one is a plug and play which does leave it vulnerable to tipping and environmental concerns, especially if in a high traffic area, in which case this device would be far from recommended. Consider your use case accordingly.Otherwise, it's nicely plug and play, and for a low price point, does the job nicely. 5 stars for that. But now, I want a faster enclosure. So it goes.

I am not using any extremely fast drives for this combo reader. As I do a ton of video editing I need my files to be actually connected directly the motherboard than a usb port. I do however for archiving purposes have large HDD's that I store multiple projects after I am finished editing and this is where this Sata reader shines. I have used these kinds of readers in the past and they all have similar speeds especially with dealing with HDD's but the one thing I absolutely love about this particular reader is the fact that it does have an on and off switch built into the reader itself. Most of the other readers you will find don't have this. Now I just keep this reader plugged in and ready to go whenever I need it. Another great addition to this reader is that it also reads M2 drives. As mentioned above I tend to keep my fast drives connected to the motherboard for optimal speed but if you ever needed this feature this is great to have.

If all you are doing is reading files or writing you should be OK, but read and write functions such as playing games off the ssd or running the disk as a boot device will cause the temps to rise alot. The access speed is good, and the compatibility is great.

The overall function of this device is great as far as data transfer, which is it's purpose. It's just a bit clumsy as far as positioning or including in the desk area, as it has no real enclosure. Keep thinking that it may get stressed out at an angle and disrupt the flow by accidentally turning it off or unplugging it. So it's great as long as you keep it neat and out of the way of your activities. Nice thing is if you have multiple drives you need to interchange often, like we do.

I ordered this for whenever I need to clone something to an existing NVMe drive, or copy files large enough that I don't want to wait on my network. It works great with any of my NVMe drives, the connection is very fast, it also works just fine with SATA drives, but I want to reiterate something in the description, it does not work as sold with M.2 SATA drives. I do have a couple of two and a half inch sata to M.2 SATA adapters, and this does work fine with those, so if you need it to work with m.2 SATA, just order one of those $10 adapters, and it'll work fine.

The Suidek M.2 NVMe SSD adapter is a great tool to have. Whether you just need to get data off an old hard drive or you need to copy two drives, this thing works great. Just connect your drive and plug it into the PC and you will have access to all your files.

Purchased this during Amazon's Big Deal day to add an additional data management tool to our toolbox. We already have a few USB-A connector adapters so adding a USB-C one is a no-brainer. To my surprise, this little adapter is very fast. For the 1TB WD Blue NVMe we tested, which is in all of our work laptops, the speed was over 1000 MBps in sequential read and 900 MBps in sequential write. It is much faster than those USB-A connector adapters (USB 3.1 speed) we had. The enclosure adapter comes with a 2-year warranty and is well-built. The attached USB-C connector is long so it can be positioned on a shelf on our workbench for better cable management. I recommend this adapter
