I bought these to use with Gardyn cubes. The 1.2 fits nicely into the cube. Used these for some bare root strawberries.

These little things work very well for seed starting. As per the instructions, use a pair of scissors or a knife to separate them. I tried just breaking off one, and it broke it and the adjacent cubes a bit. If you stick to cutting your cubes out, it works. I have to widen the indent where you put your seed. It isn't very large, so you might need to adjust it a bit to get your bulbs in there.

I ordered these to replace the rockwool in my Gardyn. I had to cut them down because they were too wide and the cuts were not all the way through but they worked well and my plants took to seed. I also had to soak them for 24 hours before using to balance out the pH. When they are wet, the fall apart pretty easily.

These are not big enough for a Tower Garden! They are not wide nor deep enough and they fall apart very easily when you pick them up or try to cut them. I should have done better research before purchasing these. Probably OK solution for some but not for my purposes. The price was reasonable though and shipping was great.

PROS:I cannot think of any.CONS:(See photos) 1 inch cubes are only half the length of other brands so they are much too short for 1 inch net cups. They are soft like cotton candy and flaky like biscuits and fall apart with handling. Plus, they excessively shed glass fibers when handling.Because you have to use 2 to make the size of one normal sized 1 inch pod and they fall apart, the price is no bargain.I AM an avid hydroponic grower and have experimented with several brands of rock wool for my lettuce, greens, cucumber, beans, tomato and seed starting systems. I use Kratky, ebb and flow, deep water, and hybrid systems. Although prices may differ I have found that all the rock wool cubes I ordered were basically of similar quality, allowing me to grow enough veggies to be able to share my bounty with many friends and neighbors and even strangers who appreciate fresh produce. That was until I ordered these. Some broke apart while taking them out of the box. Some flaked into pieces as I was removing them from the pre soak. There was way too much "rock dust" falling from the product. As I have already mentioned, each pod was 1/2 the size of any other 1 inch pod I have ever used, so I had to double them up to prevent light from entering my system.I do not recommend, so will be returning them and purchasing another brand.
