Product Description

Water Gathering Polymer Crystals - Made in USA

How to get the best results

How to get best results!

Before Use: Determine how much to use based on what you want the water gathering crystals to do. The most common application is to extend the time between watering.

For Best Results: Understand the chemistry of your soil and water and their effect on water gathering crystals before installation. Read all product instructions before use.

In general our application rates will reduce watering by as much as 75% and extend watering intervals as much as 400%*. Adjust the application rates to compensate.

*Note: You can significantly damage and reduce the water holding capacity by 50% or more if not used correctly. However, the condition of your soil, the water quality, the type of plants, and how much wind and heat to which your plants are exposed will affect performance.

Landscape Plants, Shrubs, and Trees Instructions

Great for Landscape Plants, Shrubs, and Trees!

New Plantings: Make a planting hole 2–3 times the diameter of root ball. Premix one part partially hydrated crystals to two parts soil and use to fill around the root ball, which equals 5.25 pounds/cubic yard. To prevent the plant from sinking in the hole, use only compacted plain soil under the root ball.

Dry Land Plantings: When hydration is not possible, accurately premix dry crystals with soil at the rate of 2.25–3.5 oz/cubic foot (2–3 teaspoons/gallon) and use to fill around the root ball. Use compacted plain soil under the root ball. Leave room for dry crystals to expand with water, and do not compact the soil. If available, water the plant slowly to hydrate the crystals applied. Each ounce of crystals requires approximately one gallon of water.

Existing Plantings: Make holes around the drip line of plant with a 5/8" dowel sharpened on one end. Put partially hydrated crystals in a grout bag and use it to fill the holes. Application rates and spacing depend on plant size.

Flower Beds and Gardens Instructions

Helps create a better enviornment for healthier, faster growing plants!

Flower Beds and Gardens: Apply dry crystals with a broadcast seed spreader at a rate of 7–15 pounds per 100 square feet, and then mix to a depth of 6–8 inches. Do not overlap the spreader passes. Too much hydrated crystals in the overlaps will cause ridges.

Soil Improvement: Water Gathering Crystals have improved yields and plant health at agricultural application rates as low as 10–25 pounds per acre. Even small amounts can help control erosion, hold nutrients close to plant roots, and change the structure of soils. This reduces nutrient loss, improves movement of water in the soil, and improves aeration. The result is a better environment for plant health.

They do work but it takes longer for the water to absorb than two other brands I’ve tried

The crystals are very small even after adding the water. They dry up too quick.

I purchased this as its claimed the crystals will last 20 years. I hope so, as I am using a drill to place holes inthe ground to get this below the lawn, where it will work. Takes about 100 holes per square meter, which is about 6 grams (each pinch times 10) per each linear meter in length.Using this primarily on the areas that are hydrophobic.

I bought this product because I needed something to absorb the water in my 26 year old truck that had been sitting out in the rain with a new and mysterious leak. I found that the carpeting in my truck was so wet that it was actually like a swamp. And like a swamp it was taking forever to dry out. So I thought to myself that the obvious solution was to purchase something that would absorb moisture. Enter this product. I simply scattered these magical little crystals wherever the moisture was, and lo! in a few days the crystals had become engorged with water and my carpet was dry enough that I now don't have to worry about my truck rusting into nothingness.

I ordered a different and similar product from another company and it was terrible; it turned to slime, but this product outperforms. The hydrogel holds it’s form as well as the claim that it absorbs 400x its weight in water. I live in an arid place where gardening water-hungry plants is a challenge. I’m on day six after planting and on day two of watering. The granules are a little smaller than some brands I have bought in the past, but they pack a punch. Less than a 1/4 cup in ~3 gallons of water is ready to go in about an hour.UPDATE: This has become my go-to brand for hydrogel now for the last two years. With other brands I’ve used in the past, two years is about how long the crystals last inside the soil, but these don’t seem to break down so easily. I was stunned when I dug into my garden soil after a hard rain and they are still there! This is especially good because now I know they’re not leaving a residue in my soil. We’ll see how things go this year. I bought a new house and am scaling up my gardening ambitions. This definitely has a place inside the raised planters that I am building.
