One of these is out of the bag, one has been wet for a minute and one has been wet for several minutes. Can you tell the difference? (You’re supposed to wait until the swab changes color to use it). Then look at the chart on the bag. Hardly any difference between “no lead” and the lowest level of “lead”. Waste of money.

I saw a tiktok where a woman was sick from lead poisoning, turned out to be her metal water bottle. I suffer from same symptoms and decided to buy and test mine, why not. I immediately got the darkest purple indication of lead from the inside of my Stanley cup. I was shocked and began testing other kitchen items, those were all negative except for 2 more positive results, but light - one for my stainless steel french press and one for my husbands Yeti. Glad I got these but so sad to learn about our cups we use all day every day.

These work great. I have tested my air fryer and it did contain lead. I was shocked. I'm testing all my small appliances now

I tested multiple stainless cups that I purchased from a controversial eastern country's store. They all tested negative. I then tested an old item I have which I know contains lead. It gave a definite positive response. So as far as I can tell these do work, they were easy to use, and gave fast results. There are enough swabs for me to test every cup I have plus extra, so I think they were a good value.

This worked great. I tested a bunch of antique dishes and sold off anything that tested positive. I have a lot less to take care of now 😱. And for all that I sold that was lead free…it was a great selling point!

This lead testing kit is really easy to use and I recommend it. I have a 90-year old house and do a decent number of repair projects; sometimes that involves drilling into painted surfaces or otherwise interacting with builds or repairs done a long time ago, well before folks realized lead was an issue. Recently, I was wearing a mask and goggles, standing on a stepladder drilling into a lathe and plaster ceiling, and getting absolutely covered in who-knows-what when I realized that testing for lead really should be part of my fix-it routine. This 40 pack of color-changing swabs in a resealable pack is perfect for my needs. They are so simple and quick to use that I am not going to put off testing for lead before I tackle a job. You just wet the swab, shake it to remove any excess water, rub it on the surface for 30 seconds, see if the color changes, and hold it up to the color key on the package.I tested this product on three areas recently. The first was semi-gloss paint in a kitchen. No lead. The second was a flat paint in an unfinished storage area—light lead, and the third was from a few layers down in a project I am doing. Probably lead, but the paint melted on contact with the swab, probably due to age.The only thing I would caution folks about is to do their testing in an out of the way place because it did leave a little bit of orange-yellow residue on the painted area. Not a problem for glossy finishes, but less ideal for flat paints. I’m glad to have these in my toolkit for future projects.

The tips of the swabs were frayed and the color of the tips varied among each swab. I returned for another brand that were exactly as described.
