I would always use the Qtips and alcohol to attempt and clean the video heads. I didn't know it was not a good idea. I didn't know about these swabs until I saw someone explaining how to clean the video heads. They are great!!! Easy to use.

Bought to clean inside DP connectors - unfortunately they are too thick (plastic); sure to come in handy someday.

These are great but I wish they would be a tiny bit cheaper.. iv resorted to cutting these in half so they last longer.

I bought these for lintless cleaning of tape heads using 91% alcohol. I noticed particles coming off of them. I tried to clean the loose particles off one with blue masking tape before use and was amazed at how much of the chamois came off with the tape. They were purchased new and used immediately. Needless to say, they aren't going anywhere near my tape heads!

These are a must for anyone cleaning VHS or Betamax video heads.BEWARE: Using a traditional cotton swab on videoheads will contaminate, damage, and possibly permanently destroy VCR video heads.Use these chamois-based swabs, or if you're in an absolute pinch, use a clean/unprinted piece of printer paper folded a few times over and soaked in video head cleaner.

I've been using these to clean reel to reel tape heads and also helical-scan DAT machine heads. The chamois is super soft and the flat surface helps prevent damage to helical scan heads. They're durable enough that once I've cleaned heads, I recycle them for less delicate electronics cleaning jobs. A little more expensive but worth it.

Perfect for cleaning older VHS machines as well as other types. As long as you know what you're doing, you're much less likely to damage your decks cleaning with these vs. repeatedly using abrasive cleaning tapes. The appropriate cleaning fluid for use with these is also available here.

These swabs are difficult to find in these days of digital recording. But if you have "stone age" equipment that uses recording heads, you have to be able to clean the heads occasionally. These swabs work perfectly when used dry or with 99% Isopropyl Alchohol to clean the flying heads on video equipment. Dirty heads render an older video camera useless. But the correct technique used with these swabs bring it back to life again. Be sure and surf the web to see how to clean video heads to avoid permanent damage to your equipment.
