I initially wasted a few thinking that they didn't work when i bent them where the instructions indicated. I found success after removing the pink cotton completely. The score lines are actually about halfway down the pink portion as shown in the photo. if you snap it in that spot it should work fine every time andits fairly easy it is to use. The snap should be an audible snap not just a bend. Super happy to find out that our old house doesn't have any lead paint.

I recently received a gift cooking pot from another country. It was hand crafted pewter item. Reading about pewter I discovered that newer pewter does not contain lead. I wanted to be cautious so I tested the pot. The tester worked as described with negative results. Since the negative reviews cited "false positive" results I believe I can trust these testers.

I’m so glad I bought this lead testing kit. When I read some of the reviews, a few people indicated this was hard to use. I was surprised by this because I’m not great at following instructions but I found this incredibly easy to follow and use. I opened up two tests and I was able to test my water both times no problem to look for lead. I’m so glad I bought this product and can feel confident about the water my family is drinking.

This was the best presented lead kit I could find on Amazon. Unfortunately, the pretty infographics mean nothing. There is no "snapping" that occurs in the tip. No liquid flows down the neck of the cotton swab. The white tip doesn't turn yellow because no "active chemical" flows down to it. What does that mean? It means I can't test for lead. Hmm, that seems like a bit of a problem, right? This happened with not 1 but 5 that I tried. Returning.

Note that this is not intended for use on ceramics. It’s written in the fine print. I wish I had been alerted to this before purchasing as this is why I bought it.

If you try to bend it under the cotton the instructions say to do it's not going to work. You have to bend the actual Cotton part in half. I wasted at least six of them trying to get it to work 🤦♀️

They seem to work well. I do not have a lab to verify the findings, but they did find lead on some tools we used to remove lead paint at one point. And they did not indicate on other things known to not have been exposed to lead. The key thing to do to get it to properly work is to snap the tube just below the pink cotton at the top. It is very easy to slide that pink cotton off the top to be able to see where the score line is. If you snap it exactly at that score line it will work perfectly every time, although it does take a second for the fluid to finally start flowing it flows very quickly after that.

These worked quickly and accurately as far I could tell. Our house was built in ‘58 and has chipping paint on the exterior doors so I wanted to test them before we took any further steps. The swabs turned pink immediately when I swabbed the chipped portions which revealed the old paint layers.I tested them on chipping interior paint around door jams and they were negative which is what I expected.A few swabs didn’t release the liquid right away but I just wiggled the stick to release tension and it worked. The liquid isn’t in the pink tip it’s in the tub already so it’s fine if the pink tip is broken off all the way. You don’t need to toss them just wiggle the stick.
