La Bella Has Over 400 Years of String Making Experience

The tradition of string making dates back to the 1640s in Salle, Italy, where the Mari family supplied gut strings to the famous violin builders of Cremona. In 1913, brothers Olinto & Emilio Mari arrived in New York bringing their family craft to the States. Over the years, the brothers shaped the landscape of the string industry with their innovative designs. Every set is manufactured using a perfect combination of traditional methods and latest technologies to produce a superior string.

After searching everywhere, I could only find one option for a six string set of light flat wounds. On the plus size, they are shockingly smooth. Who pick slides a behs? Not many, but you can't on these at all. They're so smooth they almost feel like silicone strings. The only real negative is the winding on the lowest string stops well short of the ball. Probably doesn't affect sound much, but it's not a great aesthetic unless the distance between the ball and saddle are over 2".

I love the tone of these flats and definitely prefer them over D'addario chromes.

I slapped these babies on a fretless MTD Kingston z6 that I recently got which, oddly enough, shipped with round wound strings. Though the bass sounded great, it was obviously missing that signature fretless sound. La Bella is the only strings I could find that had a whole set for 6-string bass in one package, so I pulled the trigger, hoping for the best considering the price. I was more than happy with them, as they brought my new bass to life instantly and far exceeded any expectations I had. These are no doubt the best flat wound strings I've ever used. Buy them, you'll thank yourself for it.
