Ive used Ernie ball slinky’s , Dean Marley blue steel, all good when I put them on. But after a while of playing my fingers felt really sore and the strings rough. So after some research I tried these DR nickel strings and Wow what a difference in the feel. The lower strings feel really smooth and totally opposite. So far so good, but I think I found my strings of choice.

I have these on a precision bass and they are the best sounding strings I've tried for live gigs. They have a brightness which really penetrates through the mix when the tone knob is all the way up. They have a round core which is very easy on my fingers. When I'm at home practicing they can sound a little brighter than I like, but I just turn down the tone knob about halfway and they ring out with a nice mid-rangey tone that almost sounds creamy. These are the best DR bass strings by far!

I’ve been buying these for my LTD six string Bass for the past three years and have no plans on switching! I love that these strings have so much sustain and brightness, but can be easily EQed for a warmer tone. I’ve used them on wedding gigs, jazz, gigs, country, and rock gigs, and these give me the option to shape my tone however I want. I usually play finger style and don’t really mess with slap, but when I have briefly tried they have a nice amount of clarity to them, especially when they’re newer for the first few months. Highly recommend!

DR Pure Blues are simply put, THE string to rule them all.Round-core, so they're very flexible and pliant, so much easier on your hands and responsive to dynamics. You won't end up with messed up hands from overly stiff strings after a 2 hour gigThe nickel formula used here is the most resilient I've used on any string, they hold their tone (for me anyway) for 10-12 gigs, then dying off into a still very usable, but less harmonic sound.Tonally, they're warm but with a detailed and refined edge that other nickels don't have. No harshness to be found anywhere here, but at the same time, not quite the usual, treble shy, nickel sound.I've used every brand under the sun, every gauge, every metal type, every core type, and these are by far and away the best. Why buy crap like Rotosound, which die after 3 hours and eat your frets, or Slinkies which are still the only strings I've ever broke and also are tonally dead within 3-5 hours, when you can have these?

When you per first put the strings on, they're really bright and don't sound great... But if you can stick it out and wear them in for a few days, they end up sounding incredible. Also, right around the time when they start sounding good they also start feeling amazing to put your fingers on. Great strings.

I normally love these strings on my 4 string P/Js etc. Then I got a 6 string bass. If I'm not mistaken, this is the highest gauge set of Pure Blues that DR offers for a 6 string bass. That's too bad, because the 125 just wasn't cutting it on the low B of my Ibanez EHB1006MS. I changed to the stock NYXL 32 - 130s and the B string really came alive with the added tension. I just wish I could buy a set from DR that has the same gauges. Buying a 5-string set and sourcing a spare C string is a fact of life for some 6 string players that I could do without. Don't make me switch to NYXL permanently, DR! ;)

First time using these strings, and I’m glad I did! They sound great. Punchy, and articulate. Everything I want my bass sound to be. Slightly more expensive than what I’ve used in the past, but so far, I think they’re worth it. Haven’t had them on long enough to gauge their longevity, but I’m anticipating they will last. I’ve already ordered a second set, and put them on one of my other basses. Very happy with this purchase!

I have been a fan of Ernie Ball and other brands until I found DR. I have been playing bass for 6 years and I have tried Ernie Balls, Daddario and DR. I was always on the quest to find that Stainless Steel bright and punchy sound. I have used Fat-Beams which are great I have them on one of my bass, but I decided gave the DR Pure Blues the chance for another bass I have... and I am VERY HAPPY.Pure Blues feel better at the fingers than the Fat Beams and the dynamics of the pure blues is amazing.I can get those nice punchy Nickel string tones but when pushing the string ( higher attack) I get that same awesome Stainless Tone, specially while slapping. My basses don't have stainless steel frets and SS strings can erode your frets in time (Used FatBeam over a year and frets dont show signs, but I know it will happened). While nickel doesnt erode the frets but they dont have the SS tone. But Pure Blues is the best of both worlds.A sound engineer told me last week, what strings do you use that are so dynamic? He was impressed with the versatility of the strings. If you are on the fence and want to make a decision, as a FatBeam and Pure Blues user I want to say:1) You wont go wrong with DR.2) If you are worried about your frets Pure Blues is the one for you.3) DR Stainless have a better tone range that other brands like Rotosound.4) with DR BLues tone will last longer than Ernie Ball or even DDaddario, both are good strings, but we will be needing to change strings every 2-3 months; bass strings are not as cheap as guitar strings. EB and Daddario are cheaper while DR may cost more up front, but you will save a lot of money in the long run. The brands that manufacture strings massively are ussually cheaper but they have and want to sell constantly, while there are other brands like DR that are looking for all life customers because we dont buy on price but on quality."Quality is remembered long after the price is forgotten"
