Perfect for that small back burner that wouldn’t get use otherwise! I’ve made boiled eggs, but mainly we like to brew tea in this thing. Heavy duty and works on induction

I love this little pot! It fits perfecting on the 4th burner and can be used for so many things! I have made pasta, boiled eggs (the lift out basket is perfect), blanched asparagus, again the basket is great! I will probably use it for boiling water for tea and many other things. Great idea to finally use that little 4th burner.

Water boils fast. Great for corn on the cob and much more. Fits on my small burner. One of the best cookware I’ve ever purchased.

Use this for small batch canning and making sweet corn for two. Also as a steamer for garden veggies.Works well on induction cook top.It is used more than I thought it would and is a nice addition to the pots and pans. Good value.

I originally bought this to quickly boil water for coffee/tea in the mornings after ditching my electric water heater. Set on the small gas burner on the highest setting boils water super fast, mind you, I only fill to about 2 or 3 cups. The spout pours perfectly, no drips, splatters or leaks. The silicone handles stay cool to the touch regardless of how hard it boils. It's great for immersion blending, especially small batches of soup. The slender design makes all the difference. I often don't even bother with the steamer basket when steaming vegetables or boiling asparagus or corn since there's holes in the lid to drain the water. You do have to be careful to clean this with only a sponge and not a scour pad. I started cleaning the outside on one spot with a scour pad and it did scuff it.. I would have liked a sound/whistle to let you know it's boiling since I use it often as a kettle, so have to be mindful of that, but overall a truly awesome pot!I have received so many compliments on just the look of this pot alone from family and friends. I'm considering purchasing the 6 cup when it becomes available, but so far, this does what the 6 cup does and more so I'm very happy. If you're on the fence, purchase it, you won't be disappointed.

To be clear up front, I bought this specifically to use as a kettle and not a steamer pot. Why? Because the alternatives on the market for a taller relative to diameter, larger capacity kettle with a high spout and a lid are: crappy, outdated (traditional enamelware made to "modern standards"), compromised in some way, or unavailable or expensive (Snow Peak Classic 1.8) ...The form factor described above is best for making cowboy coffee. The Kuhn-Rikon pot works well for the purpose, easily allowing 2+ Finished quarts of coffee without boiling over and allowing the grounds to settle out compactly. The pot itself is 18-8 stainless, has a laminated bottom, and can be used on any heat source, including induction. The lid is stainless and glass. Although the lid is deep enough not to need it, it has two bumps that engage slots in the pot sides to retain it. I may or may not flatten those, but will use it as-is for a while first. I don't really care for the handle on the lid and will definitely replace it with a simple knob.Nice pot at a good price, well made. Quirky lid.

This tall narrow heavy base 12 cup pot fits nicely on the 4th (smallest) burner at 16cm across and 20cm high great for corn cobs asparagus and long veg it's really great for soups as the height means less spill when using a stick blender it's even good for pasta. This is one very useful pot

The small burner profile with a large capacity, locking lid with built in strainers, & steamer basket make this an extremely convenient and versatile cooking implement. I've used it to make pasta, ramen, soups, various steamed vegetables, boiled eggs, and more. The diameter allows me to conserve a large burner and the built in strainer saves me a dirty colander. The locking lid makes it safe & easy to use.I can't really speak to the durability as I've only it 10 or 12 times, but so far it seems pretty sturdy. Water heats to a boil pretty quickly; the bottom seems pretty conductive. Overall, it's a very well thought out pot.

As another reviewer already mentioned and you can see from the pic I included, this little pot holds more than the six cups stated in the title and Product Description, coming in somewhere between seven cups and two quarts. But I can forgive the slight overage (as long as I don't have to pay extra!)Also it's described as a "Fourth Burner Pot" but for those of us with 30" stoves it will most likely prove most valuable on the fifth burner, where the downward turned handle will not interfere with other vessels on the range. Another convenient use is with counter-top induction cookers, as again the fit is fine and the base material is perfectly compatible.Kuhn Rikon also is the only manufacturer I've found of pour/strain pots with lids that lock on — you can pick up the whole assembly from just the lid handle (though I can't see why you'd want to do that.) Balance is very good too, way it's designed makes pouring easy and there's no after-drip from the spout. While I'd find it a bit small for cooking pasta, it works well for poaching eggs or heating milk for cocoa. Brazed on handle means no rivets for a perfectly smooth interior. All in all, a lot easier to maintain than a tea kettle and without that annoying whistle! :PUpdate: Just got the 12 cup model too. Even better for hot cocoa because it will fit a hand held mixer’s ballon whisk right down to the bottom (see fourth pic). So even at the highest speed there’s no overspill with the pot filled up to about 2 quarts. Beats using the 5-cup SS Oster blending jar, which has never been sold with a lid that seals completely. Delighted that I can now quickly prepare a hot frothy beverage without having to sponge down the whole kitchen afterwards.

Ideal for steaming veg, potatoes and cooking pasta. Also muscles. Deceptively large capacity.Uses hardly any water for the steaming, keeping the weight down if you need to move it or drain. Locking lid makes draining very easy and saves washing up a colander. For pasta or boiled potatoes you can gently lift cage from the water and put on a plate to save carrying the whole lot to the sink if you can't lift that much weight. Very good if you have bad back or weak arms or hands. The silicone on the cage handle is quite small and hard to grab if there's a lot of steam around. Also it is hard to tip up the cage to empty the contents when it's hot. I use everyday forks to grab the handle or prong in the bottom the cage and tip it whilst holding the handle with the other hand. Works fine then.

Product quality is good with useful features. Mostly though it is a fun cooking option. It really can be left on the stove without taking much space and it is handy for combining with larger diameter pots. It is shorter than most commercial spaghetti but it only takes a few seconds to soften so the complete strand falls in the pot. Getting out the big pot to cook pasta is not hard but not my favorite task so this pot bypasses that small annoyance. Plus it is more fun to use. For instance, if you like tempering the pasta with a bit of sauce, that is easily accomplished by tossing the cooked pasta with a few scoops of sauce in the pot - shaken, not stirred. A 13.25 oz. package of spaghetti cooks down to half the pot so plenty of room for shaking. There is also no bulky colander to wash and it is enjoyable having the option to drain with one hand, with the lid handle providing a two hand option. A family member tried giving me an asparagus pot once but it seemed so single purpose. That assumption was incorrect but the features on this pot present even more options. Plus, it is fun, fun, fun for pasta, boiled eggs, blanched vegs, brown rice, cowboy coffee, etc., etc.

I already owned one of these great cooking pots & knowing just how good they are, I decided to have another one. I put all of the vegetables in there & once the water has come to the boil, I turn the heat to a gentle simmer. I save on gas & the things cook in a few minutes. I did however, ignore the instructions about having the straining holes over the pouring spout because I found the water bubbled out over the hob. I tried it by moving the lid around & hey presto, problem solved.Best cooking pots I've got & so very useful with the basket to lift out & the two lots of different sized straining holes.

I don't usually leave reviews but this pot exceeded my expectations and I felt the need to chime in.As other reviewers have stated you don't really know you needed this pot until you have it.Fits perfectly on the 4th burner and allows me to easily boil water for pasta, steam vegetables or reduce a sauce while using my main burner for other dishes.Originally purchased for single jar canning (deep enough to cover a single jar, comes to a boil quickly etc) but has been used for much more. Its quickly becoming my favorite pot for the following reasons:Heavy stainless encapsulated aluminum bottom (even heating, no scorching), I love the basket for cooking pasta/perogies/veggies/eggs, and the lid strainer works great if you are not using the basket. For the price you won't be disappointed and as of this review I haven't seen any downsides yet.I'm already buying another for a gift.
