This is made by a company called Demeyere in Belgium, and manufactured in IndonesiaSeems pretty nice though!Update 01 mar 19:After using this for several side dishes, I can say I really like this cooker! One thing for sure, it cooks WAY WAY faster than the other similar cookers I have used in the past - around 50%.I used to have a standard cook/steam time of 16-18 minutes when using similar cookers, filling the water level just below or barely touching the bottom of the basket, and placing a it on a cold burner then adjusting it to high. However this cooker/steamer seems to run out of water around 9-10 minutes using the same techniques.I think the faster steaming time may in-part, be attributed to the lack of steam vent in the lid, but I'm not an engineer. The hook welded to the side of the basket for hanging the basket from the lip of the pot is a feature I didn't know I was missing. It works great to drain food after cooking/steaming.The only negative aspects are the noisy lid when steaming, and the basket handle being able to swing below the lip of the basket.Nevertheless, I'm so pleased with this cooker, I'm ordering another!

What’s the difference between a $90 Demeyere Resto asparagus steamer and a $23 Chinese one. Answer-The bottom didn’t fall off on the Chinese pot.

This seems like a great pot, very well made. Another reviewer said that it was not made in Belgium but mine clearly states "Belgium". I love the little hook on the side of the pot so you can sit the basket on it to drain. I have added a few photos so you can see for yourself. The weight of the pot is as follows:With basket:. 3.10 lbsWithout basket:. 2.08 lbs

This is a nice pot. I purchased it to replace the asparagus cooker I got at Williams Sonoma 35 years ago. I used that pot for everything, but when I got an induction cook top I could no longer use it. Ive used this Demeyere for so many things: 6 ears of corn fit perfectly, pasta, blanching veggies, slipping the skin off tomatoes, and yes, asparagus!

I own an induction stove and had been looking for an asparagus pot that was compatible. This one works perfectly! It is beautiful and durable and easy to clean. The basket has a little clip on the side so you can clip it to the side of the pot to let it drain and keep the asparagus warm until it is ready to serve. I had never used an asparagus pot for corn on the cob before, but it works great for that too! The corn comes out perfect! I haven't tried it yet for pasta.

I mean it's a pot, how it cannot work? You put water in and it boils. This one though is quite a pretty one.I am using it on induction range, it heats good without hotspots and makes no noise like some cheap products will make on high setting (looking at you Tramontina).I also like a hook on the mesh bucket, you can see on the picture the bucket is sticking out, it's not a prop for picture and it's not how it looks while you cook, that's how you can drain your veggies while it's still on the range.

I bought this pot to replace another pot I used for pasta - it required a ton of water to fill the basket and took forever to come to a boil. This pot is awesome! I'm sure it does a great job on asparagus, but I use it solely for pasta. It requires less water since the basket goes to the bottom of the pot and can hold a TON of pasta. It does a great job, and I find it to be the best I have used.Update as of 05/29/2014: This pot is still going strong. It is dedicated to pasta, but it does a wonderful job on all types. For spaghetti, linguine, angel hair, etc., I recommend not using the basket as the ends get stuck in the holes and break off/make a gummy mess. I use the pot and put the basket in the sink (or use another colander). Problem solved. Easy to handwash or comes out of the dishwasher nicely.**Update 09/09/2015** Still love this pot! I didn't realize that this pot is now 3 years old. Looks like new despite being used several times a week and washed in the dishwasher (sometimes by hand). This is a quality pot that does a wonderful job on pasta (nope, still haven't made asparagus in it).
