Such an easy install once I used the dish soap to secure the base. I reused th existing yellow piece attached the the tubing. Now it flushes perfect!

I had an "older" midelbof this, and one of the plastic triangle pieces broke off on the bottom. I ordered this new one, and easily used the old water supply tube, which the new one does come with.After multiple attempts to insert and turn it just right, I soaked the flange in dish detergent overnight. It still wouldn't turn and lock in place.After reading other reviews, I managed to take the black tube off, and put dish detergent on the bottom of the flange. I was finally able to push and turn the black plastic flange holder down enough to get it to turn and lock. Yay, no more leaking flange!

Perfect replacement part. Ridiculous that I'm replacing these things already, but that's not the kit's fault. Dawn on the surface that touches the ceramic and barely takes any force. Second toilet I've ordered the kit to fix, and I keep it bookmarked just in case toilet 3 goes.

I tried installing the Kohler 1216612 Replacement Part (Canister Valve Assy) on a Kohler K 3810 Santa Rosa toilet only to find I couldn't compress the gasket enough to seat properly. There are three tabs/fingers that rotate on the toilet in order to seat the valve and no matter what I tried I couldn't get the gasket to compress enough to install. After trying several recommendations from other customers I eventually soaked the gasket in hot soapy water overnight, wrapped the gasket in non-stick tin foil and placed the covered gasket underneath the front wheel of my car for five hours. Last, and maybe out of spite, I ran the car back and forth over the gasket several times. After coating both sides of the gasket with liberal amounts of plumber’s grease the gasket finally compressed enough to install.Why one has to go to such lengths is beyond me. An internet search showed that this problem seems to be back several years. Why Kohler hasn’t fixed the problem is beyond me because it just shouldn't be this hard.

It's very hard to fit the gasket in the bottom of the tank. Once you soak the rubber gasket in cooking oil and twist to the left it becomes a very easy install. There are no YouTube videos I found that show this step. This step is important the water will never shut off in the tank.

This part was a good replacement for my 1.28gal Kohler Samta Rosa K3810 one-piece toilet canister. There is a triangular opening in the toilet that requires the base of this unit (the parts separate with 1/4 turn) to be gasketed up with the three tabs to directed to the points of that triangle. Be sure to coat the bottom of the fat gasket with synthetic plumbers grease before putting downward pressure and turning that base to the right to lock in place. There are helpful videos on the Internet that I consulted but Amazon prefers you find them for yourself. After reading other Reviews I was prepared for trouble, but this was relatively easy!

Genuine KOHLER parts in the kit. Installed DIY in about 20 minutes - would’ve been less time if I’d applied more Dawn to the bottom gasket to begin with. Hopefully I’ll remember that when I have to change it again in 15 years or so. Product shipped promptly, arrived in new condition (no damage).
