I'd just like to note that KOHLER GENUINE PART 1025648 DRAIN PLUNGER EYEBOLT does NOT work to replace the nylon eyebolt that is part of KOHLER Part 78172-CP Stopper Assembly with Adjustable Stem. It was mentioned in another review that it would work. It does not. I tried it. It is not the same diameter or thread pattern of the nylon eyebolt that comes with KOHLER Part 78172-CPOther than that, the KOHLER Part 78172-CP Stopper Assembly, although it is expensive, does the job. According to a Kohler representative that I spoke with, you cannot buy just the nylon eyebolt that is part of KOHLER Part 78172-CP Stopper Assembly.

For anyone that just needs to replace the ~4" long threaded plastic component (instead of the entire Kohler Stopper Assembly), you can get it directly from Kohler or Amazon for just $2 each. It is Kohler 1025648 Eyebolt, Drain Plunger.Kohler Customer Service is fantastic, but when I explained what I needed they said they had to provide the full assembly 78172. Note their manual for the assembly does not list the Kohler part number for the threaded plastic component -- I found it only because Amazon showed it somewhere on their webpage for 78172.

The item that arrived was much smaller than the characteristics described, we bought this piece to replace the generic Koller sink and it was very difficult to install because of its small size compared to the original

This is a great product! Heavy weight, solid, well constructed. We wanted to replace our 20+ year old stopper with new, shiny stoppers (polished chrome) so we ordered two of these. Surprise, surprise when they arrived! KOHLER (all caps) is etched into the top of the nice, shiny chrome stopper. We're happy to support Kohler, but our sink already has a Kohler emblem on it so there's no need for the stopper to be etched with additional advertising. This etching was not shown in the listing photos or description but according to Kohler, they no longer offer plain stoppers without the etching. We are returning these.

I really only needed the plastic lower assembly as I already had a metal stopper but I was unable to find that part for sale alone.Regardless, the quality of this stopper is excellent. It's quite heavy and was super easy to install.

It is a great looking product. I bought it for the weight. Thought that might help the stopper seat firmly. No such luck. Water still drains out. Can't figure out why. Would buy a cheaper model if I were doing this again.

I had tried 3 different generic replacement stoppers, but none of them were the proper size. This one is expensive in comparison, but fits the Kohler sink perfectly. Unlike the generic replacements, this one is solid metal and heavy, with a plastic threaded stem.

Perfect! We moved into a 12 year old house and a stopper was missing. I first purchased not one, but 2 different cheap "universal" stoppers from home depot and found out it was going to be a lot of work in order to make them fit. I found this one and even though it was double the price it was the easiest thing ever to install. Literally just drop it in and done. It took 2 seconds. Perfect fit and works great. I've had it for 3 months now and haven't had an issue.
