This K&N filter is the cheaper of the two versions they have available and is made in China, hopefully the standards are up to K&N quality. I have not had issues with this filter but have been told by others (mechanic) they aren't the greatest to use so will be switching to Wix, Mobil1 or the better K&N oil filter in the future.Price on this has since went up several dollars since initial purchases.

Been using K&N for years didn’t know they made oil filters until I started using synthetic oil and had to install a high flow filter for full synthetic oil and compared prices if the Fram cost twice as much as a regular oil filter might as well use a good one

Switched from oem filter to this and valvoline full synthetic in my 2016 Silverado and it runs so much nicer I will never use anything else

It’s a good filter even for its regular price.It has a metal mesh inside I like the ACDelco one which is plastic if you look inside of it.It’s a little shorter than the ACDelco PF63EIt sure does the job.

I have been buying K&N Filters for 20+ years and I never had a problem. They are good quality and easy to use. The air filters are efficient and easy to clean with their cleaning kit.HOWEVER....this oil filter caused my "CHECK ENGINE" light to come on. I had my dealer change my oil and use this K&N oil filter. Soon after leaving the dealership the "CHECK ENGINE" light came on and the engine went into "limp mode" and I had to drive home at 40mph. I went to the dealer and they explained that there was "something wrong" with K&N filters and they restricted the flow of oil on SOME GM vehicles (my vehicle is a 2019 GMC Acadia Denali AWD with V-6 engine). The dealer replaced the K&N with a GM filter and the vehicle has run fine since then (400+miles). I sent the K&N filter back to K&N for "testing" and their representative told me that the filter was "fine" ...BUT...also promised to research further and discuss the situation with K&N management. I CANNOT say that the filter was a fault...only that my vehicle had a problem. The GM service mgr told me that IF I did not use GM filters that my warranty could be VOID if I had any further problems.YOU have to decide for yourself if you want to use NON-factory filters or not.....

The K&N reputation is second to none. This filter feels and looks beefy. Every indication is that it should provide excellent protection. The jet black appearance is also a little unusual. An instructor in auto mechanic school once told me to stay away from black because it would make finding oil leaks more difficult, but as Renoir said "Black is the queen of all colors." One must learn to balance aesthetics with practicality. With better gasket materials, oil leaks have become much less frequent, so I don't think it's really an issue. I plan to stick with this brand.
