After K and N replaced one of their traditional panel air filters for free for me under their warranty policy no questions asked, I made it my mission when it came time to buy a cold air intake to get one of theirs. Just a good company with good customer service who stands behind their products; a rare find these days. Not sure about any horsepower gains, but I think it does help slightly with throttle response. But to me, the look in my engine bay and the addition of the induction “growl” noise made this completely worth it. When you’re driving normally, you notice no difference in sound, but when you stomp on it; the little extra “vroom” sounds great. And not like the cheap-sounding “weed-eater” exhaust noise you usually hear from modified 4 cylinder cars. Actually sounds good.No regrets: a little pricey (but had actually come down quite a bit at the time I bought this compared to how much they were when I had looked one time before). No check engine light issues or computer “tunes” required at least on my car. Just pull out the old factory airbox assembly and install the K and N parts. Took me a little over an hour. If you can follow the included instructions or even better find one of the several youtube vids about how to do the install, you will be fine.

Super easy to install and comes with instructions even, sadly I currently reside in California though my scion bx has WA plates so since it is illegal in CA I had to mail to friend in las vegas i go to frequently either way and she was nice enough to ship it next day even. most definitely feel a better cleaner ride in the engine while driving and so glad it is not loud either but low enough to listen to the difference. let me know if any scion bx 2011 type owners have questions.

Very happy with it. So far I've seen a 1 litre/100km improvement for fuel economy. Plus, 96,000 km maintenance window. Awesome!

I have a 2013 scion xb and I love this thing. The deep note of the intake when you hit the pedal is what makes it worth it. It does also feel like it helped with the gas mileage. It does feel like it made my vehicle more responsive and has a quicker pick up. I just had a little bit of a headache when installing it following the instructions. I ended up taking the heat shield out to install two brackets then reinstall the heat shield which made it a whole lot easier.

I bought this as a replacement to my Tenzo intake and I've been very happy with it so far.MPG is still so so on the xB but at least the intake is higher up preventing hydro-lock or anything nasty like that from happening. The heat-shield does an OK job, but you can clearly feel the car bog down a bit on a hot day (here in FL) just like with any other short ram intake like that. It has a deeper tone than my previous intake, almost sounding like a subbie flat 4 from inside the cabin when stepping on it.Power wise, no major increase was felt (I mean come on, it's an intake, what did you expect) but the car revs a bit nicer from 3 to 5k.The installation was pretty straight forward and took about an hour or less. Plus it's K&N so the filter quality is top notch.

Really enjoying this intake. Noticed the HP gains especially hitting 2nd and 3rd gears. Adds a nice growl to the engine instead of a purr. Next on the list is to add is a Magnaflow exhaust.

The delivery of this intake took less than two days, for which I have to give kudos to Amazon. Installed this thing in the car and after some driving and resetting the computer took the car out for some fun. And is this thing fun! My gas mileage has dropped significantly but only because I just cant keep my happy foot out of it. The car just roars when you give it the beans and replies with a much more noticeable shove into the seat as the engine cranks through the RPMs. I have not noticed any significant change in throttle response, but the power and torque is noticeably improved. The rare occasions when I can keep my right foot under control I noticed a slight increase in MPGs, so this is quite nice too. I know the toaster that is my car is not a sports car, but when it puts out such an awesome bellow and pushes you back into the seat, its as close as I'm gonna get for now.

I had to return this because it just killed my gas mileage and did not improve whatsoever and additional hp or "slight boost" when acclerating. Complete waste of money

I purchased this for my 2010 Toyota Matrix. The install was easy, but the real beauty of the kit is the improvement in throttle response and the "growl" when one gets into the throttle. Before it made as much noise as a sewing machine and now it sounds more performance oriented. My hope is that fuel economy will improve by virtue of having less throttle opening at a highway cruise.

This short ram intake has been a great addition to my car. Installation was kind of easy but it just takes time if you aren't too familiar with cars. Your engine will growl when you accelerate and make it breathes easier. You hear plenty of people say that short ram intakes are pointless because of the fact that it just sucks up hot air from the engine, trust me when I say K&N makes sure this doesn't happen with their products. The heat shield provided does an amazing job at keeping hot air from the cone filter. The heat shield has those black rubber outline tubes that touch the hood of your car, making hot air from the engine more difficult to access. To see how great the shield worked I opened up my hood after a long drive and touched it. The part of the shield next to the engine was hot, but the inner walls that protect the cone filter wasn't along with the filter itself.
