. How High-Flow Technology Works
How does the K&N 57-3045 increase horsepower? By eliminating airflow obstruction in your engine. Restriction of air flow between an air filter and an engine robs even the most powerful engine of horsepower. K&N air intake kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the standard air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered conduit that makes up the 57-3045 drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into power. This conduit begins with an oversized conical high-flow air filter. This larger filter can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting points because the 57-3045 replaces your stock intake tube, and air box. This provides more airflow at lower restriction than a standard filter, limited by the size of the factory air box. The oversize air filter also captures and holds more dirt, increasing the service life before a cleaning is required (up to 100,000 miles). The filter is also isolated from high engine temperature by a heat shield designed to lower the temperature of the air entering the engine, which increases horsepower.

The filter attaches to a rotationally molded tube made from nonmetallic interlaced high density polyethylene (HDPE). This allows for precision shaping of the tube to reduce turbulence and accelerate airflow into the engine. This is why some K&N tubes have unique shapes or indentations that are specifically engineered for each engine configuration. Finally, the tube is connected to the engine with adapters made from high strength materials such as silicon and reinforced nylon and ensures long life. Put all this together and you have the best high-flow intake system available today.

Street Legal
Many K&N intake systems are street legal in all 50 states and include a California Air Resource Board (CARB) Executive Order (EO) number that ensures the kit has been tested to comply with emissions standards. EO numbers apply to the kit as well as the year, make and model it is being installed on. Systems with no EO number are street legal in most states but may not be used on emissions controlled vehicles in the state of California or other states adopting California emission standards. Consult K&N's website to search by part to see which cold air intakes are CARB exempt for which vehicles.

After 100 miles I opened the hood and the intake tube had come out of the clamp. No worries! The bracket that attaches to the transmission just needed a slight bend upward. Problem solved! Great product! Noticable difference!

NO check engine light. Easy to follow instructions. Comes with a heat shield to protect intake from taking hot air from engine bay. Noticeable difference in performance. Visually pleasing. Worth the purchase. Bought a few months ago, not a single problem yet. Makes my car sound like a monster (in a good way) due to this mod getting rid of the factory sound dampening devices. Always have and will get a K & N cold air intake for my “performance” vehicles. Something like this shouldn’t be cheaply done. Installed in a Chevy ‘02 Monte Carlo SS.

Installed this in my son's 1998 grand prix gtp. It came with clear instructions as well as all parts needed to install in the vehicle. It definitely helped a bit with the gas mileage as well as air flow you can definitely hear the difference when the supercharger kicks in now. This was an upgrade from the offbrand kit that was put in the vehicle by the previous owner. Definitely worth the money!

Was A1 the first day I installed it, nice sound, better mpg. but 1 day after installation the plastic elbow detached from the rubber coupler and my car was experiencing loss of power and stiff accelerator action plus the message center was shooting off all kinds of wild codes. I fixed it and after an hour it detached again. so now this is my life I guess...

Clear, concise instructions, solid construction, and high quality piece. Why let your PCM flop around under your hood when it escapes its wire ties! K&N's built-in mounting bracket eliminates that problem with its built-in PCM mounting bracket. Solid, sturdy construction, 1-2 MPG improvement, and when I mash the throttle on my 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP Supercharged daily driver, the Supercharger whine and quicker acceleration is a somewhat louder but pleasing experience to the driving senses! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR THIS CAR!!!

This is the 3rd intake I've personally installed on one of my cars. First on my girlfriend's Dodge Caliber, then on my Chevy Tahoe and now this guy on my 99 Regal GS S/C. Definitely livened up the engine, throttle response improved and there is a noticeable difference in power. The whine of the S/C is much nicer and a lot more noticeable. I'm hoping there will be an MPG increase, but I haven't driven it enough to tell. Once I manage to not want to step on it to hear the S/C, I hope I'll see some improvement!

I am writing the review prematurely on purpose so I can relate initial impressions and observations, then add to it later with more information as time goes by.To begin with, I highly, strongly encourage those who like to do things by the seat of their pants and refer to the instruction only in cases of getting stuck to RTFM before you start even if you are a self proclaimed 5 star back yard mechanic. Reason for this is so you can identify discrepancies in the installation steps before you get into it rather than after and have to stop and do some R&D to continue. That said, the installation on my 2002 Impala LS went off pretty much without a hitch, save for the ground strap stud that snapped and had to be drilled out before I continued, and the fact that I still haven't compensated for the intake elbow bracket not fitting to the indicated location on my transmission properly. (minor detail)It took me about 2 hours all told being as that I was going step by step and being very cautious. (and that was not counting messing around with the uncooperative rubber strips and messing around with jockying the plates around to get them to fit properly... which they did)After install completion, my initial observations are: much louder sucking sound upon cold start until rpm's settle down. No biggie. Snappier throttle response, be forewarned, you just think about the car moving and it does before you know it!Biggest initial obs. is the fact that prior to installing, whenever I'd park the car after arriving at work, or home from work (22 miles one way) popping the hood was like opening a fully stoked boiler on a coal burning freight train. It was always hot enough under the hood to bake potatoes! Now, I can pop the hood and touch any part under there and not get burned... no blast of heat smacking me in the face like a kitchen broiler. And the intake elbow tube, despite being black, is actually COOL, yes I said COOL to the touch.I can only imagine how much cooler the intake air is, and thusly how much more dense and efficient it's making the engine run.I'm not a hot rodder, but as time goes on I will report on mileage and performance as I gather the data. For comparison sake, currently I get just under 27mpg (combo hwy/cty) and that was up from 24-25 when I changed to a FRAM airhog filter and removed the intake "muffler" tube. I can already see halfway through this tank of gas that I've gotten more miles per needle position than normal, but I'll wait until another full tank passes to post the actual numbers. So far, so good!(Oh, and PS: at the same time I also went from a single stock muffler to dual flowmaster super 44's, so some of this may be attributed to that, but I highly doubt it as mufflers are more for sound that performance in this car's case)
