These are so easy put on and a pleasure to use.I took them out for a 5K trek in snowy/ icy conditions to give them a run through before I add them to my pack. Up hills, down hills, through trails, they did not move or slip off, even though I didn’t attach the lace hook (I put them on after my gaiters).Very happy I purchased these, the price was good and they are all metal on the underside 👍.I expect a few adventures out of these :)

I've been using these for over a year and they've held up great even though I beat on them since they're my cheaper pair. I have a more expensive pair that are lighter and have the toe spikes, but I wear these unless I absolutely need the others. They're very quick to get on and off, they feel very solid and the teeth have held up to roots, boards, rocks, ice and snow. I love them. Don't buy these if you doing anything very steep (e.g. with an ice axe) as they don't have the toe spikes. However, for anything where you're not kicking in to create a footing they're great. I couldn't be happier with these and I would gladly replace mine with another set if they broke.April 4, 2023 update: these are still working great. I hike every week in the winter and I abuse them: rocks, wood, roots and drops. Clips are still working great, although they can get can get packed with snow if you're carrying them carelessly, which I do. I don't take care of them at all, just ride 'em hard and put 'em away wet. I've adjusted them down to work with soft toe sneakers. Not perfect, but still very usable. I had hiking boots without a rubber toe guard and these chewed through the leather'ish material, so beware. Love these.

As long as you understand that these crampons aren't actual Mountaineering crampons, they'll do the job. I think these are more ideal for flatter ground with not much incline.

I bought these in 2018 and it is now 2021. I have used these crampons on many long winter hikes in the Adirondack High Peak Wilderness, the Vermont Green Mountains, and lots of mountain trails in between. These have held up really well and have not let me down once. The only negatives that I can think of and these are not deal killers are as follows: the buckles are hard to undo when iced up and the thin neoprene material that is supposed to keep sticky snow from adhering to the bottoms fell off and is now gone (it is replaceable but I have not bothered). If you are looking for a traction system for serious winter hiking that will include icy slopes and scrambles, I highly recommend these.

I love that these Kahtoola's are a high-quality, made in the USA product. I had to pay 30 - 40 % more than some other crampons, but it's worth it. Before buying these I bought crampons that I didn't know were made in China, and they were very heavy and obviously low quality. So I ordered these Kahtoola's and am very happy with their light weight and ease of use with 2 simple clips. Love the high quality materials: metal, straps, clips. At first I was concerned about whether these crampons might have trouble staying on with steep down hill slopes, which is when the need for solid traction is the greatest. This is the big problem I have with micro-spikes is that they don't stay securely on my boots. But the Kahtoola's stayed on very securely.IMPORTANT NOTE ON SAFETY: As much as I love these Kahtoola's for serious hiking on hard snow and even fairly steep ice I don't believe they are appropriate to use for glacier climbing. For that purpose I'll stick with my Grivel's. This is not at all a knock on the Kahtoola's, but they serve a different use in my view.

Note before I start this review I purchased them from the seller Fuel for Adventure. If there is word to describe this seller is amazing. To start out, having shopped at REI for Microspikes/Crampon For the past 5 years, I was hesitant on purchasing any crampons/Microspikes from Amazon, since one of the Microspikes that I bought which had really good reviews would fail miserable when I was hiking in snow. As I vowed not to shop here in terms of Microspikes/Crampons, an friend of mine would recommend me to try Kahtoola K10 since they are work for a flexible hiking Boot which I had. Having mountaineering boots, which weight a lot and being stiff, I would look for other alternatives for a crampon that can be used for my other hiking boots which I would use for non-technical mountaineering hikes. As I receive the first item, the seller would help me out after my original order came damaged. They would also respond one day upon messaging them and would solve the issue. Will highly recommend anyone to get any gear from this seller as they are trustworthy. Will definitely be shopping my future gear from this seller.Update: Got the replacements today. They seem brand new and not damaged.Update 2/11/2020Just used these on Mount Baden Powell, Cucamonga Peak, Timber Mountain, Mt Baldy and they work great. The only downside is their is noticeable rust on the crampon bar. Other than that they are really good with snow and icy conditions.

Product was received with only 1 (not 2) crampons, no instructions and no snow release skins. Amazon did an excellent job of arranging a return and replacement with all appropriate items.

These crampons by far have been sturdy and survived a 22km hike 5,200ft elevation! :) The trail was mostly snow packed so this worked out really well! Bindings are okay - no issues with it being jammed with snow. Not too light, but not heavy. We decided to buy good crampons after almost always using MSR snowshoes even for snow packed trails. These crampons make every trek a lot easier on non-powder days.We only had minor issues with the snow skins. It took us a good 30min for the initial installation.. it is tricky! and it kinda hurt our fingers, trying to pull and stretch it so it can hook onto the spikes but once you get the hang of it, it will be easier the second time around. After the 22km hike, a section of the skin came off (unhooked from the spikes) and we only noticed it after the hike. Because of pressure while walking, the spikes punched a new hole onto the unhooked snow skin.Overall, we are very happy with these crampons! :) :)TIP: It gets rusty very easily, (i know it says stainless) so after using make sure you rinse it off, remove the snow skin and dry with a towel. Do NOT let it air dry without wiping excess water droplets! otherwise, those water droplets left on the steel will aid for it to rust easily.

No lateral slip, you can literally sprint up a snow packed hill. These things are well made and the binding system is secure. I have minimal hours on these, but I am pleased with my experience so far! I purchased these after a miserable hike with Yaktrax, and I can tell you if you're on steep and slippery snow-covered terrain, these will make a bad day a good one. Love the K-10s! Will be trying out other Kahtoola gear if I find a need for a less aggressive traction device like the micro spikes.

I've used these crampons a few times now, and can say that the grip they provide is excellent - I've used them on ice, and snow, and felt uber confident with each step. The only 2 issues - resulting in the 4 out of 5.1. There are exposed metal rivet backs at the front of the crampon. I taped them over with hockey tape after they dug into the soft rubber of my winter boots and really gouged them up. Avoid that mistake and tape them over.2. Putting the nylon anti-snow balling pads over the crampon teeth is VERY difficult. I had to use several hand tools before I was able to get them over, but not before almost tearing one of the pads. Appears to have been worth the effort given that no snow has balled up under the crampon - which is always a pain.Other than those two items, I would recommend them - easy to size, and get on and off. The clasps allow you to secure them to your backpack if you get to an area where you don't need them. Overall I'm satisfied.

I used these crampons this weekend on an icy mountain trail. They worked fantastic. Gripped like nothing I have ever worn before. They were easy to adjust out of the box, only took 5 minutes. They stayed adjusted where I had set them also which is important. I didn't want to have to readjust on the trail. The snap closures worked perfectly. Very tight and secure. Footing was amazing. After hiking for years without these I will never hike in ice or snow without them from now on. Good quality, good price, easy to carry along when not in use. Just clip to your back pack. Totally sold on these. I had researched others and read a ton of reviews and bought these. Very happy with my purchase.
