I am writing this review based on the sleeve of this size included when I bought my Jet spindle sander. After less than 5 minutes of use that sleeve tore and began to unwrap. I found this particularly ridiculous considering that I was just doing light, low pressure sanding on the edge of 1/2" plywood that I'd cut to shape on my bandsaw. Of course I need replacement sleeves now, and I assure those will be a different brand.By the way, this is consistent with my overall experience with Jet products. I own a lot of their machines (dust collection, spindle sander, air filtration, mini-lathe, mortise, etc) and would own even more except for one big thing: the product quality is extremely uneven. When you receive the product it will either be great or terrible. For example, I bought a combination disc / drum sander and its quality as received was unbelievably terrible - utterly unusable. I sent it back and the replacement was slightly less terrible, though equally unusable. I sent that one back, bought another brand and am very happy with the (less expensive) unit now in my shop. My opposite experience? My Jet spindle sander is great. You just never know in advance.

I don't claim to know how sandpaper is made or which materials/processes make one brand better than another. That said, these Jet sleeves have the abrasive perfectly distributed, don't load up, and last a very long time. About 100 board feet later, the first set (different diameters - first sleeve of each) is still going strong.I can't say the same thing about "D" brand, haven't used and can't find 3M brand.
