Mince parsley or chop walnuts effortlessly with this board and knife set from cutlery king, Henckels. The curved, double-bladed stainless-steel knife slices and chops as it rocks gently in the bowl of the hardwood cutting board. A two-band brushed-stainless-steel handle gives the super-sharp knife a sure grip and a stylish, contemporary look. Measuring 8 inches square and 1-1/2 inches thick, the wooden board features four rubber feet screwed into the bottom, so it won't slide around on the table or counter. The set comes neatly packaged in a gift-quality black cardboard box. Henckels guarantees this set for life. --Ann Bieri

This is a mildly slick kit with a nice board and a slick tool. However, the usefulness is less than hoped given the size. I hadn't realized when purchasing how small it is, really too small for any sort of salad or anything other than mincing small seasonings like garlic. I like it, but could live without it.

This set works perfect for chopping up small amounts of food such as herbs or nuts. Easy to clean. Mezzaluna knife is very sharp and easy to handle in the small indented chopping board. The only thing I wish this set would have included was a hard plastic cover to store and/or cover the blades of the Mezzaluna knife as it is very sharp. I am using the cardboard cover that came with the knife but I don't know how long the cardboard cover will last as the knife set will last for years. Don't forget to oil the board periodically to prevent it from drying out which you have to do with all wooden boards. Set came in good condition and in the time it was expected to arrive.

I was given one of these sets as a gift, and ended up not using it for a long time. When I finally did, I realized the error of my procrastination! This has become my go-to tool for all my fresh herb chopping AND for fine chopping other ingredients as well. The handle fits nicely in my hand and the curved block keeps the herbs right where you need them, while the curved double blade makes the chopping quick and smooth. Love it so much I now give it as gifts...and I'm sure to tell people to use it right away...don't wait!

I am one of those knife weary individuals. I'm not the quick with a knife veggie chopper. So when it comes to mincing herbs, I take a really long time. I decided to give this a try for a couple of reasons. First, because I really do suck at using knives, too afraid of them. Second, I have a severe disabling back condition which causes me severe pain and the need to stay in bed to recover for a few days if I'm on my feet to long. For these reasons I needed to cut my kitchen work time! The rocking motion DOES take some getting used to. My maiden use for this was in making herbed Irish potatoes. I first minced Italian parsley (better flavor than regular parsley), followed by chives. I expected the rocking motion to be much smoother. It almost seemed like it didn't fit in the curve of the cutting bowl. After a few strokes, it seemed to become somewhat smoother. The Italian parsley did stick to the blades, which concerns me because the number one herb I use is cilantro, which is similar in structure to Italian parsley. On to the chives. Not so good. The double blade here is actually a hindrance because you end up with 1" pieces, then have to go back over and over it again hoping to get just the right size. I do not recommend using this on chives or green onions. My overall impression: Is it worth it? yes. In my realm of the universe I am know as the kitchen gadget queen (which did play a part in my purchase). Before this, I used a food processor to mince herbs. I love my food processor, but don't feel it is the best tool for herbs. When using a food processor, it can change the texture of what you're chopping due to the random angles of cuts, and herbs can easily become pulp. Not so good.Reason for 4 stars. I don't like the double blade. As mentioned, some herbs tend to get stuck. Someone made a comment to sprinkle coarse salt on the herbs to keep from sticking. I don't find this viable, because salt can easily change or overpower the flavor of the dish; plus I have a family member who is very salt sensitive and can detect even the smallest amount of added salt. Also, as others have pointed out, the handle looks too similar to the blades. Not much of an issue for me, but I have a child who dreams of becoming a chef, and I worry she might grab it the wrong way. As a rule she still isn't allowed to use knives, but she does help out in the kitchen with cooking and clean-up just enough to concern me. Kids do have short attention spans and are curious, so even telling her to not touch it or which side to hold it by, may not always work. So far so good. I did let her know that it is a "knife", but that doesn't mean at some point her curiosity and "chef" desire won't trump my commandment.I would have preferred Shun, I like the fact that it has a slot for the blade (which Henckels doesn't have, which also increases the possibility of accidently picking it up wrong). Also the Shun is a single blade, which makes it easier to remove the sticking herbs, and you can be a bit more deliberate at the size of lets say chives. The shun is, however, much much more expensive than this. Unless you are familiar with Shun, or experienced using a mezzaluna, then there really isn't a need to spend that much money. This is a good quality and inexpensive way to meet the needs of the average home cook.Hope this helped.

I bought two to these sets, and gave one away as a gift. I love it and so do the gift recipients. They make their own salsa and use plenty of cilantro in their salsa recipe, and this set is a great addition to their kitchen they said. I used mine only twice, and so far it's great and super sharp. It's fun to use, and easy on the muscles. It's good for folks with arthritis and those with muscle problems as you still get your herbs chopped but the tool is designed in such a way that you can change your hand position and still get results. It's high quality and it's a wonderful set.

I use this anytime I need to chop more than a little bit of herbs. The double blades are nice and sharp, and it powers through whatever job I set it to. My favorite is chopping lots of rosemary for rosemary scones. Chopping all that with a regular knife always took me forever, and little bits of rosemary kept flying everywhere. The rounded 'well' on this block helps keep everything contained.

Product works great, but as other reviewers have stated, the all-silver design poses a risk of grabbing the wrong curve. We put a rubber band around the handle to help avoid being cut.

I thought I would really like the double-bladed mezzaluna, but I find I don't so much. As another reviewer said, things you are chopping get stuck between the blades. That said, it makes quick work of chopping and is very, very sharp. I haven't needed to sharpen the blades yet, but I think if I needed to I could unscrew one of the blades and sharpen it with my Presto electric knife sharpener. The cutting board is beautiful, very dense wood, and a pleasure to use. I give it a bit of food-grade mineral oil periodically to keep the wood healthy. Normally, unless I am chopping something that needs soap to wash, I just rinse it after I'm finished chopping something vegetable in nature and stand it on its side to drip dry. This works well.
