Very happy with these bits. I've used them in installation of deadbolts on a few doors and they do their job well ('course, you need to pair them with a good drill!). The guide tooth worked perfectly to keep the bit on-center with the mark, and they cut cleanly. My only complaint is not about the bits themselves but the case: the item description states a hard-plastic molded case, which mine certainly did not include. Rather, I got a soft, semi-rigid folding case with elastic loops to secure each bit (like an oversized, fabric-coated matchbook). Elastic loops do NOT hold these bits securely, with those at the edges often falling out of place/out of the case.

Love every Irwin product. These are heavy duty spade bits that come in a really well-made storage case. You won't have trouble keeping track of the drill bits because the case lets you snap them right back into place. They provide every size bit you need for the job. Commercial heavy duty quality. We use our bits to make our Christmas Tree bases. And the holes that are made with these bits is perfect.

After having issues with receiving this set from Amazon (or rather not getting), I ended up grabbing these locally for roughly the same price. My original plan for these were to use for drilling holes into a couple pine stumps but found that they were not particularly effective for that and an Auger bit was more useful for that purpose. Unlike the auger bit, the spade bits kept hanging up as I drilled into the wood. Even though they didn’t work for that purpose, this set is decent enough quality for me to hang onto and use for around the home.My set came in a blue nylon flip case that has several slots for holding the bits. The case works ok but the slots don’t hold as well as I think they should as the bits tend to fall out if you don’t have the case closed. The bits themselves are decent quality and for occasional use at drilling holes into studs, they work well enough. The blades are sharp and work fine for home use. They aren’t good for boring into stumps though and I don’t know how well these would hold up for regular/commercial use though.4 stars

Great quality. In the picture I saw the 17 piece set came in a traditional open pocket sorting roll of cloth, blue in color of course with Irwin logo. What I received was a thousand times better: A molded plastic insert attached to a heavy duty canvas backing with rivets, on which 17 molded hexagonal receptor slots were set. Each bit clicks in and out of the holder. I love when good design is applied to cases and holders, it really makes a difference. I always end up losing bits because a loose pocket doesn't seem like that much of a home. There's something about 17 clickable SLOTS that just yells "replace me when you're finished." I haven't lost a bit since, and have used the tool about 5 times. A new personal record for how disorganized and absent minded with that sort of thing I am.

I'm doing some custom wood working projects around the acreage. I needed a spade drill bit to counterbore some holes to hide my lag screw heads. These bits did an amazing job with some wet poplar tree trunks. Wet wood is always more difficult to drill into as it is more dense with the water. These drill bits didn't have any problem making a nice counterbore hole. For people that will be counterboring or drilling out large holes up to 1 7/8" I would recommend this set.

Productos de excelente calidad, las he trabajado con con un taladro inalámbrico de 12volts y han trabajado muy bien, cuando las compre el precio estaba algo alto pero aún así eran excelentes ya que conseguir algo similar en México resultaría más caro.

I bought these to use with a new DeWalt impact drill. It uses the quick insert drill, so normal bits will not work. But, they also work with a regular chuck in a conventional drill, and do not slip. Nice set - probably more sizes than I need, but very convienent. Price was right, too.Irwin bits, saw blades, etc. are popular with carpenters in my area. Cheap, do the job - not a job wrecker when you hit a hidden nail.

I had a couple of spade bits laying around and of course you never have the one you need in that situation so I started looking for a new set. If I don't know or have a reference, I have to go with a "safe" brand with good history but with the cost difference, I figured I'd give Irwin a shot. I had to use the bits as soon as I got them and was not disappointed. Good quality, sharp spade blades, the ends are hexagon shaped to prevent / reduce slippage and it comes in a nice holder that snaps the bits in pace and has a nice Velcro flap to hold it all together. I recommend this product.

I've owned a couple of these bits. These are quality bits, heavy duty shafts and solid performance. Good range of sizes from 1/16ths to 1/8ths makes it easy to drill the right sized hole. The case is also extremely useful compared to my stack of bits that I have to fumble through to find the right one. All these bits for almost $2 a bit is a steal compared to buying them separately.
