I chose this unit over the smaller diameter after reading reviews. The 6" unit moves a huge amount of air and is extremely quiet. Specifacations say it is measured at 35 decibles but it may be quieter. This was purchased to make a fume extractor for welding with the doors down in the garage during cold weather. Previously, I would have a headache and a metallic taste in my mouth even when wearing an N95 mask under the helmet after welding with the doors down in the winter. This unit more than handles the extraction of hamful fumes preventing headache and allowing me to complete welding task on my car and shop builds in one step as opposed to multiple steps. I would totally recommend this fan.

Before installing, I discovered that the fan leaked air around center seam and around the wiring block. Had to tape seal those areasThe fan also has more vibration than expected. Likely cavitation or balance issue.Installed in a ventilation capacity for a small project space.Works well enough for my application and was economical.Wouldn’t recommend for use in a concealed space or when quiet, vibration free ventilation is desired.

Inexpensive and effective motor speed adjuster. I use it to slow down a small fan used in my greenhouse. The noise output is greatly reduced at slow speeds and the air circulation can be adjusted as needed. Great buy!

When I first plugged it in, it did not work. It just hummed. I unplugged it and checked the impeller for clearance. It was rubbing the housing. It is just press fit on the motor shaft. I pressed it on a bit more, and it spun freely. After doing this, it spun up nicely, and was rather quiet for the amount of air it was moving. However, I am concerned that over time it will drift back off the shaft. The input and output is a bit small, and will fit inside an inside fitting. OD is about 95.5mm or 3.75". Should be 101mm or 4" as it states in the description. It is too small for standard 4" duct. I will make it work though.

Much easier to have in the workspace compared to the shop vac. Plenty of airflow and best of all, it is almost silent.

I installed this unit to pull the heat out of an AC unit and it works great. I tried the smaller one that said it was the same CFM it wasn’t even close. This will make the exhaust vent open all the way, the other ones would not. And it’s not plastic,

So, I originally ordered two of these fans. One to use as an exhaust fan for my welding area and another for a project to be named later. As often happens, my original project waits to be completed but did I ever find an incredible use for the spare blower. A friend reached out and asked me if I could weld a new fire grill for her barrel stove. I said sure and also asked if she’d be interested in a blower motor to increase the burn rate of her wood. Aka: make the fire hotter. She was excited by that possibility so I took the motor and controller along with me. A little cutting and welding later and she has a turbo injected barrel stove. 190 cfm through 3” metal ducting seems perfect. 24” off the back of the stove and the fan doesn’t heat up at all. Great product!!! Metal squirrel cage not plastic! Super quiet! Can’t say enough good things.

Item is much better than I expected. I was expecting it to have just a few clicks for speed adjustment. Instead has a rheostat knob with no stops. I am able to turn the knob slowly until the precise fan speed I desire is obtained. Using for an (extremely) oversized bathroom exhaust fan I recently purchased. Installed this speed control and was able to dial it to a much quieter level.I am planning on drilling a hole in the face plate of the exhaust fan to mount this for easy access and ability to adjust fan speed as needed. Will remove the knob and pass the shaft through a small hole for a finished look.No hum or overheating at all. Highly recommend this speed controller.

This item works perfectly to give me better control over a 20 inch orbital drum fan that already had 3 speeds but there was very little difference between high and low speeds.From what I read online I didn't think this would even work. But eventually I decided to take a chance and try it out. I am so happy that I did. It could not work better.The item has a very good quality feel. The dial to adjust speed it smooth and feels like it will last a very long time.Highly recommend. Even if what you want to control already has speed control this still gives you more control.Excellent product.
