Test strips, and a cheap water tester for 300 bucks. Ok ha ha ha take my money. Don't waste your money cuz it won't get your brew water any closer than you were before you decided to buy this.

I wanted to get a water testing kit so I didn’t have to keep sending off water samples, which takes up time and money. I have well water so frequent testing is important when brewing. This kit has everything I need. From start to finish this kit makes sure I get accurate results and fast!! Great that I can test immediately beforehand to make any necessary adjustments! Awesome product!

My total alkalinity readings were ranging from 40ppm to 90ppm. Did the test 50 times over and used an entire bottle of reagent strips. Never got the same reading twice. I did EVERYTHING correct. Cleaned with the brush after each test. Rinsed 3 times. Filled the cell to the top. Dipped the strips to the bottom of the cell.Did not bend the strips. 2 strokes per second back and forth. Did not spill water out over the cell. NOT ACCURATE! don't waste your money. For $300 bills it is a crime!

I've tested my water and the water of a few of my friends and each time, it's within about 4 ppm of Ward reports from the same source.I use it every few months while brewing and it's been consistent and helpful.A little bit of a learning curve, but the instructions are actually well written and the company was quick to answer the one question I had. Don't forget to change the reading to get the proper ion you're looking for.I HAVE suggested it to friends and have loaned it out. I've even started a small database of local brewing profiles based on their results.

This is a decent product, but it won't take you very far if you are looking to brew high quality beer. I purchased the kit and received all of the necessary items to test my water for pH as low as 6.0. I contacted the seller and indicated that didn't help me since the optimal brewing pH is 5.2. The seller informed me I should have received the acid pH reagent and they would send me the item free of charge since it should have been included in the first place. One nuance is the iDip meter is for testing water and cannot test mash because it is not clear. If you are an experienced homebrewer, then you know the importance of mash and wort pH. As such, this kit doesn't do the full job. You will need the advanced kit if you are looking to perfect your homebrewing process.

I can not recommend this product for any home brewer. The results, when you can get them, vary significantly from what a test company like Ward Labs would provide. Most of the time the parameters are "too low" to read for typical brewing water (including the pH function) so you can get a reading for 2 maybe 3 of the important brewing parameters at most. Finally the equipment just quit working and the app crashed wiping out any results I did manage to get. I wound up throwing the entire kit in the trash because the manufacturer will not refund your money if you buy from anywhere other then directly from them (wish I knew that when i purchased). This product will not help you make better beer, so just pass and send your water out for testing by an accurate facility.
