It cuts a bagel very well, but you need a long knife to do it. If you tilt the knife slightly downward, it cuts pretty well. The "crumb tray" keeps coming out- I just taped it down so that doesn't happen anymore. I am happy with this purchase.

I'd hoped this bagel holder would make my bagels more stable to slice. But it's so wide that my bread knives are only barely able to cut across it. That makes cutting a bagel an unstable process.On the bottom of the holder, one side opens to make cleaning easier. The problem is that the side that opens is so loose that it falls off. Again, not a stable device to handle.I'm really disappointed and will be dumping this holder.

If I saw this in a dollar store I’d expect it to be $1.99. Plus, it was broken when it arrived. Returned for refund. Avoid.
