How do I determine if the water is hard water?
- Observe for water spots on dishes and glassware after washing
- Look for white chalky buildup on faucets and showerheads.
- Feel for dry and itchy skin after showering.
- Notice if soap and shampoo lather poorly.

Why doesnt the water softener decrease the TDS ?
A water softener primarily functions to reduce water hardness by replacing calcium and magnesium ions with sodium ions using cation resin. This process helps prevent scale buildup and extends the lifespan of appliances. However, it's important to note that the TDS represents the overall concentration of dissolved minerals and salts in the water, does not significantly decrease. While the water softener effectively addresses water hardness, it does not decrease the TDS level.

How could i determine if water softener works?
You can test the water hardness using the Titration Method. This method involves adding a chemical reagent to the water sample and measuring the amount required to reach a specific endpoint. The reagent reacts with the minerals causing water hardness, and the volume of reagent used indicates the hardness level.

This product works as advertised and is easy to regenerate the resin. The water is soft and it is much better taking a shower and cleaning with soft water.

This product does its intended job but, it will need to be recharged with salt after every 300-500 gallons. My issue is with the included hose and fittings. In hindsight I noticed there are other inexpensive options that include better fittings like quick connectors or swivel connectors that make the weekly or bi-weekly recharge and disconnect/reconnect to an rv a lot easier. The included hose sprung a leak after the first time I had to disconnect it to empty and flush my tanks. It will do for now. I am satisfied overall as I now have soft water in my 5th wheel while I am out working in some of the hardest water areas in the country like south Louisiana and west Texas. Just be sure to recharge it at least biweekly because you will only get about 500 gallons max.

Idk if I was one of the lucky ones or not but the one I got was defective. The inlet and outlet sides of the bottle are a metal fittings screwed into a plastic housing. This is bad. My outlet side immediately leaked water everywhere I checked the fitting and I could spin it with my hand it never got tight and if I wobbled it the metal fitting would come out of the housing. In short, the plastic housing was a size too big for the metal fitting used to connect to it. Thereby allowing water to leak out and the item to be unusable.
