Your cart is empty.Why Use Marine Aragonite? It is a pure Marine Aragonite sand collected from the crystal clear oceans of The Bahamas, with no harmful tar, organics or impurities. Aragonite is part of a hermit crabs natural habitat and they will feel right at home with this superior substrate. Hermit Crabs are land crustaceans and spend their adult lives on sandy dunes, rocky beaches and mangroves. Hermit Crabs are not recognized as true crabs because they lack a broad flat shell. They have an omnivorous diet consisting of vegetable matter and carrion in the wild. They love to climb and clamber over dried driftwood placed in the middle of their enclosure. These crustaceans are exceedingly docile, only nipping with their pincers in self-defense.

Tiny little black gnats of some sort came with the sand and I can’t get rid of them. My crab loves the sand but not the bugs. I’m still going to order but will try baking the sand first to kill any eggs or bugs

I just bought some more to set up a new residence for JAWS, our hermit crab ! My wife has had this very stuff in our tank for years now, ever since we lost a couple crabs & changed over to this. We've had great results ever since, so we're sticking with it.

I’m pleased with this sand for my hermit crabs, showed up on time, was handled well.The sand is soft and perfect for holding in the right amount of heat for your enclosure!Might have to order one more to give nice deep comfort for our crabs bc they all Love to burrow into the sand beds when they molt but otherwise very satisfied with the purchase :))

My hermit crabs loved it after I put it in their tank. The ended up burrowing themselves for a few weeks to molt after I put this in. :) obviously they werewere feeling happy and comfy
