I tried this for my chicken waterer. Put it in a gallon size bucket, at 10 degrees frozen solid. Would not recommend for this type if applications.

For some reason, this heater fails quickly. This is our second one. The first lasted much longer. The second, two weeks.

Don’t buy absolutely horrible. Fails after a few days. Replaced and failed again. Just completely a dead electrical fault.

I live in the southeast, it does not freeze a lot. I put this in, as instructed, my chicken waterer. The first freeze it was great, kept things from freezing. Got another freeze and all the chicken water is frozen, as is the item, covered in ice. It completely stopped working. Upon inspection I even see electric wire slightly protruding from the item. It also feels like water got in it. If that were not enough, to return it I have to either go to a UPS store, which does not exist near me, or I have to pay to have it picked up. Do not waste your money on this item.

This Chicken water deicer is great. Quick and easy to use. We use it in our water barrel that holds about 50 gallons of water and the deicer does the job!

Used the immersion heater for a chicken waterer. It shorted out in less than two weeks. Have used other immersion heaters for the same purpose and they have lasted well. Would not recommend this one.

Used in a small ( 2 gallon) pail for dogs unit blew breaker and water was froze (Oct.26 24) outside temp was 27 degrees plugged in again blew breaker.......not good. window for return is past..do not recommend UPDATE: removed 6 small screws that held unit together and there was water inside causing a dead short.....it was not sealed thank the lord for curcuit breakers
