I suppose when you buy a handgrip like this you're doing that for the ergonomic benefits mainly. In that category, this thing works great. I like that I can easily attach my camera to a tripod with little effort. My only complaint is the look of my camera with this handle. The plastic that they are using for the hand grip looks and feels really cheap. I can imagine that over time, its probably going to look a lot worse compared to some other grips I've seen with synthetic leather. If you're looking for something to help with the ergonomics, this will serve you well. If you're hoping for one that does that while not being obvious that its an aftermarket piece, you might want to keep looking.

I tried this on an A7CR, which it is perfectly compatible with. That specific camera is very small and Sony provides an extra grip attachment for larger hands. The FOMOZER L-shaped grip doesn't have the depth extending the camera further into your hand, but it does provide more depth to the camera where your fingers would grasp the camera. The fit is perfect with regards to the camera form factor, and the manufacturer very thoughtfully provides a portable, medallion type of screw driver - think a nickel with a misshapen bottom -- that you can use to screw the plate into the bottom of the camera. It doesn't interfere with the battery flap so long as you remember to pull out a locking arm that the plate has on the bottom to keep the battery cover from accidentally coming off. The plate also has additional mount holes on the bottom.I like the feel of the camera in my hand with the extra metal from the grip, but the real issue with the A7CR is that it stops a little short at the bottom, which is why Sony provides you with a false bottom that adds an extra 11mm. It doesn't sound like a lot, but it makes a difference in my hand. Ultimately I the missing space on the bottom is pushing my hand to fatigue faster.I do not have an Arca Swiss Tripod fluid head, so I can't speak to how well it fits or works with one. Given how well made this is, I would confidently recommend you try it should that be your biggest motivator. If your hands run on the medium/smaller size, the extra grip support in your hand is probably worth the trade off from the missing depth on the bottom. But if your hands run into a size XL, I think you'd rather have the depth from the stock Sony attachment.

The grip is made from metal and the handle itself is metal too. The finish is not grippyWhile the grip is sturdy, the hand grip isn’t as big as I had hoped for. I have rather long fingersand the hand grip doesnt do much to help me hold onto the camera. To be fair, I think the grip on Sony’s full-size cameras is also small. The little latch can be removed with a Hex 2.0 screwdriver bit or an Allen wrench that is not included. I do not mind it so I left it in place. I would have wished that the bracket had tool storage on it given how much empty space there is, instead a coin and Allen wrench are included separately.I recommend this grip if you want your A7C2 to feel like a full-size Sony, but if that grip also feels too small you will either have to modify this grip or buy a different one.

I’ve been using this handgrip for my Sony camera, and it’s been quite functional. I had to wait to review it since my new camera was delayed. I was advised to get this handgrip due to my big hands, and I’m glad I did. The metal construction feels high-quality, though the design does have a flaw—it blocks access to the battery.Initially, I wasn’t thrilled with the plastic part on the front, but I got used to it after a day. The extra weight added can be counter-intuitive for a smaller camera, but the improved handling makes up for it. Overall, despite the minor inconvenience of the battery blockage, I’m finding it to be a valuable addition. I was tempted to dock a full star for this issue, but since I can get through a whole session on one charge, but I'm not petty.

The unit is well made and well finished from anodized aluminum. The silver is quite bright compared to the paint of the A7CR in silver, but since the main purpose of this item is to take wear and tear away from your camera, it's fine. The wooden grip screws on with two hex screws, though I could also see leaving it off if you only need the Arca capability.

This handgrip for the Sony A7C II is beautifully machined, and fits perfectly onto the base of the camera, with multiple connection options (my base plate for my PD carry clip/tripod fit well). The handle provides a deep extension for the grip, perfect if you have larger hands or prefer a more traditional SLR-style over the thinner rangefinder grip. The included tools make it easy to assemble the handle, as well as mount/unmount it.So why the 3 stars? In order to access the battery door, there is a little hinge on the bottom with a panel that is supposed to swing out, allowing the camera door to open. The access hinge is so tight on mine that I can’t get it open without pliers, and it hasn’t loosened appreciably. While this grip is incredibly affordable compared to the official Sony base, I don’t want to have to wrestle with it every time I need to change my battery, and the fact that the hinge doesn’t have any sort of latch also worries me long term, as I don’t want to get jabbed by the edge of it if it does loosen up with repeated use.

The stock Sony grip extension is crazy expensive, so it's nice to see alternatives pop up. This looks and feels well-made. The detachable handle screws in securely. The base fits precisely on the bottom of the A7C2. At this price point, I'm happy with the quality.I have mixed feelings about the ergonomics on this. It almost extends the grip too far, my fingers are more inclined to point straight out rather than curve downwards without the grip. However, I can see other people finding this more comfortable, so not knocking points for that. I also wish it had a rubber finish, the smooth finish feels nice, but it's not very grippy.
