sometimes i need a small measuring tool cause i don't have enough gray hairs in my beard to tell you how thick something is from ten feet away. this little guy will let those of us with degraded or degrading vision more easily tell how thick or thin a particular object with roughly parallel sides might be. it works well for that and the markings seem to line up with my more expensive mitutoyo scales so i trust it well enough for non-critical measurements

I bought this to carry in my pocket. It's a little sharp, but in its case it's fine; I may fabricate a leather or 3D printed case for it to make it easier on the leg.The brass is nice, tho the engravings are kind of hard to read, but I just scribbled on it with a ballpoint pen and then smudged the ink into the hash marks, numbers, and other engravings, and it really pops now. You can see the 100mm and the numbers around the slider pin where I didn't get the ink in as good. Handy little tool. 1mm / 1/16" resolution.

Bought to carry and measure small items in hardware, works well in a small package.

Certainly more accurate than a tape measure and seems of a reasonable quality. It's something that you can carry in your pocket. The pouch that the caliper comes in is a waste of time, it was too snug of a fit and was destroyed by the time I got the caliper out of it. Regardless, I'd still recommend this product.

This caliper is decent. Not great, but not bad. Made in India... at least its not made in China. Made from real brass. Polishes nice with Brasso, though it was finished nicely as it came. It's reasonably accurate. I wouldn't use it for delicate or highly accurate work, but its good enough for some around the house type stuff, like "I wonder what the diameter of this pen is?" or "I wonder how thick the blade is on this pocket knife?".The machining on it is mediocre. It also doesn't move very smoothly, even after a polish with Brasso. But, it was cheap, and looks pretty (if you like the color of brass), and is accurate enough for hobby type stuff, so I don't regret this purchase. Just don't expect a finely made, highly accurate Mitutoyo or Starrett.

Ever so slightly off on mm scale but still able to read, nicely made. Mainly use it for "in the ballpark" work, checking nut and bolt sizes, very handy

It fits in my pocket. I had to do some significant work with a file and scribe to make this even close to read correctly. QC at manufacturing is poor and no final finish. It's like the slide and frame are not from the same factory but slammed together with no finish. Poor manufacturing tolerances. They are inexpensive and you can make them work with some patience.

I bought two of these, with the idea to give one to my father in law. They arrived just as described. The plastic sheath was just as others have mentioned: Very tight and if you are not careful you will tear the plastic. Best to put the large in of the caliper at the top and just insert the thin length in.For what these are they are great little tools. But, they should be a little better from the factory. Both of the calipers were rough sliding. The first set was very rough. The machine marks in the slide were very visible. The second set were less so. I took that set and applied a little WD-40 and worked it back and forth. That really smoothed out the action. I took the very rough one apart: There was a little grit in the slide tenon and a burr. I use an emery board on the burr and wiped down the tenon. It made it much nicer. Since my father-n-law does wood working I did not use WD-40, it might stain the wood, so I used some candle wax. That slicked it up nice, but it does smell like Cinnamon. If they didn't need to be taken apart and tweaked to work I would have given these a 4. While they are inexpensive they don't deserve a 5 star, as there are some areas that could be better. They could be deeper etched or imprinted to make them easier to read. Perhaps I'll paint them with black enamel paint and wipe them off so the paint stays in the grooves.I would recommend these to anyone that needed a quick reference, more so if you like to use metric. The SAE is only 1/16". There is room to have used 1/32. But, if you need finer increments the metric is to the mm.

It's inexpensive. The precision edges are good enough. But... if you buy this get yourself some emery polishing paper. A lot of the edges you actually touch needed to be deburred. There's quite a bit of wobble when measuring more than about 2.5 inches/60 mm and the stamping of the first cm of markings is a bit rough
