I have heard that people don't like these pits because they don't break down. I wanted an alternative to plastic and the coir pots I have used fall apart before I can get then in the ground I took a drill with steppe bit and drilled 1/4 inch holes in the bottom to help with drainage. I will probably cut the sides when I plant to allow root penetration. These pots are sturdy and not plastic ( I have heard they contain wood pulp) so I might reuse them. For plants that I want to put in the ground with the pots, I probably will drill a few more holes. These pots are mich cheaper than coir pots and I would rather not use the cow poop ones.

Start seeds out in this peat pot. When your plant needs a larger pot, just place the plant and peat pot in the larger pot. Eliminates the shock of repotting plants. Great value, sturdy enough to hold plants. Water wicks through the media.

These peat pots were very difficult to get apart. We had to work a finger around and around each one to separate them.

I have a few beautiful shrubs (Butterfly Bush that grows pink & purple flowers + a Weigela Wine & Roses that has dark purple leaves and hot pink flowers). I wanted to fill in my garden to further obstruct my dog's view of the neighbor's fence (and the neighbors Pug, who barks at my dog incessantly).I trimmed a few pieces for the Butterfly Bush and the Weigela and 'rooted them in glass vases for a few weeks. Yesterday I planted them in these little compostable pots. My soil quality isn't the greatest (it is very clay-ish) so the material of these pots give the seedlings extra protection and a better chance at growing. When they're ready (in about a few weeks) I'll plant them in the ground.

These eco-friendly pots have driven me to not want to be eco-friendly. These are NOT good for seed starting. They are not good for transplanting seedlings into! They begin falling apart with slightly damp soil, forget watering them! They are hard to take apart from the stacks, which leads to ripping half of them before you even get to ruin the rest with moisture from the air!I have used paper pots before and these are by far the worst thing I've ever purchased in that regard. I cannot even say "You get what you pay for" because I have purchased CHEAPER that lasted longer. These are NOT PEAT, they are thin papier-mache make from what appears to be gas station paper towels. And to the reviewer that received plastic pots instead, you were so lucky because if you had received the correct product you'd be even more upset!

Love these things. Started gardening for the first time this year and decided to invest in these biodegradable seed pots to attempt to avoid transplant shock, and boy do they work amazingly. I included some pictures of pumpkins I started in these pots; one is from when it first sprouted, one is when it grew its first set of true leaves, and the last is around a week after I planted it in ground. No wilting, no drama, no nothing! Excited to see how these fare for the rest of the season.

They tend to stick together when stored as a stack, otherwise I would give 5 stars.

I use these for new shoots off of my plants. All you have to do once it’s ready is drop them into a planter, fill with dirt and you’re good to go.
