This was perfect for the baby showering I was planning. Dropped a small bag of soil in each pot, added a packet of flower seeds and decorated with ribbon. It was a hit!!

These pots are okay. I was sad when I realized they have no drainage holes- that adds extra work for me to make holes. I also was disappointed in how short the plant markers/stakes are- way too short for these pots or even a standard tray. They will easily be lost. I would buy from a different company next time.

We expected to use these pots as a more natural pot to sell some small seedlings at this year’s farm market. Unfortunately, they did not work for that use. The pots break down very easily making a longer use of them impossible. In the past I have gotten peat pots that are expected to be planted with the plant and break down. None have broken down as well as these pots. These molded and started to decompose before we could ever make it to market with them.Short-term use of these pots I can see great potential. I have some left that I plan to use for some plants that don’t like to have their roots disturbed after planting…vining plants such as cucumbers, watermelon, and squash. With how well these broke down I am hoping they will be the first pots I can actually plant with the seedling inside and have break down. No review on whether this works, but based on how they have performed this far I expect them to do well.Size is better suited for the vining items than the tomatoes and peppers I had in them previously. Too small for the tomatoes and peppers. Fast growing herbs or flowers might work as well.

I wish I had better news, but am reviewing these so that you all can make a better decision than I did. In an effort to use decomposable pots, I purchased these and had hopes that they would be similar in durability and material to the Jiffy ones I used in the past. These smelled like toxic waste (especially when wet). I decided to ignore the smell because I thought maybe the smell had just come from the bag they were packed in and would subside. I then started a ton of organic produce starts in them. About a quarter of them busted open and the soil along with the seeds drained into the trays. I should have given up then, but kept at it. The starts that came from these looked ill... the cukes, the tomatoes, melons, herbs, everything. Comparing these to the starts I grew on the exact same days using soil blocks, the soil block starts were about 4x the size and healthy looking. The pots were also slimy when I picked them up when wet, like they had weird glues in them. I think this product needs to be flagged. So disappointed.

I filled these with potting mixture and put them into wooden flats (about 2 ft x 1 ft) that I had made (4 x 8 = 32 in each flat). I soaked them and replanted my seedlings. When I tried to firm up the soil around the seedlings, these peat puts tended to collapse, so I had to be careful. The fact the the pots were packed pretty tightly in flats made it less important if the pots collapsed or cracked, since they were supported by the flats and each other. Nevertheless, the pots are pretty flimsy, so be careful how you use them. Overall, they did the job OK and will be held together by the seedlings' roots until they can be placed (carefully!) in the ground.
