I AM A WOMAN SOON TO BE 81 YEARS OLD. I GOT MY EDGER TODAY. THE REVIEWS I READ WENT FROM GOOD AND POOR. WHEN I FIRST STARTED PUTTING IT TOGETHER I THOUGHT THEY HAD LEFT OUT MY SCREWS...NOT SO, THEY ARE ALL ATTACHED. THERE ARE ONLY TWO AND THEY ARE IN THE 'GUIDING HANDLE' THAT YOU ATTACH. THE EDGER ITSELF IS TWO PIECES THAT ARE ATTACHED BUT ARE BROKEN DOWN FOR SHIPPING. THERE WAS A PECULIAR LOOKING GASKET BETWEEN THE PIECES THAT I COULDN'T FIGURE OUT, I TORE THAT OFF AND THE HANDLE WENT TOGETHER PERFECTLY. IT IS NOT TOO HEAVY, THE BLADE PART IS THE ONLY 'WEIGHT' AND IT ROLLS ON A SINGLE WHEEL. I HAVE USED IT ONCE NOW AND IT IS GREAT!IT COULD BLOW UP THE NEXT TIME I USE IT BUT RIGHT NOW IT IS A GREAT EDGER ESPECIALLY FOR THE PRICE. AND, IF IT DOES BLOW I'LL LET YOU KNOW!P.S. ONE THING THAT CONFUSED ME WAS THE BATTERY CHARGER. IT CHARGES SILENTLY. MY OTHER BATTERY CHARGERS FOR MY LEAF BLOWER "HUM". BUT IT CHARGED JUST FINE.GOD BLESS YOU ALL!!

I've had about four months to use this. I recently changed the blade, and went with about the least expensive Amazon had to offer, so check out my review on aftermarket blades. What a difference a new blade makes! By the way, those are LEFT HAND THREADS holding the blade on.Anyway, there was some learning curve, but I had technique down by about my third use.It would seem this edger is designed for people who are about 5' 6". I'm about 6' 1" and the wheel never seems to touch the ground. Because of the rotation of the blade, the edger pulls you into the direction of the work being done, so once you get technique down, the work is very easy. Actually, by the time you master it, it will be time to change the blade. And what a difference a new blade makes!I like that it has a tear shaped depression for hanging.Recently I starting taking care of the neighbor's front yard, so I have two driveways, sidewalk in front of each (plus curb), and the back portion of my yard that runs along the road. Pretty standard size for an average subdivision. I can do all that and still have two bars on the battery. This should give you an idea of how much work you can get done on a single charge, but the battery would die before I could do that again, so I have to make sure I charge the battery between jobs, which is once every week or two.I love this product is brushless, as that proved to be the demise of my previous edger. I had to throw away a $100+ piece of equipment for a couple of $5 parts that I could have easily changed myself! BRUSHLESS IS A SELLING POINT!I'm pretty happy with this edger. Not perfect, but pretty darn good - especially when I compare it to what I used to have.

This was my very first time using an edger of any sort, so I was a little intimidated on what I was doing at first. In fact I was contemplating sending it back because I was afraid I wouldn't know what the heck I was doing. These pictures show my first ever attempt at edging. I'm so very pleased with the outcome. I cannot believe how quick it was. In the instructions it doesn't really tell you very well where to place the edger next to your cement, so that was a learning curve for me. If you're thinking about getting an edger I would definitely recommend this one. I'm hoping that the battery WILL hold up quite well, but time will tell on that. I have the front of my house and the one side of my driveway to do is all, and that took me about 10 minutes I would say to do. But like I said, this was my first attempt at ever doing edging so I'm pretty thrilled with it.

I’m not sure why Amazon is selling this item. I bought this and had to instantly return it because it was incompatible with any green works battery sold in Canada. I even called the company and asked if they sold an adapter and they said they didn’t. The only other option was to import a different type of 40V battery that the sell in the USA.I only wish I had read the other reviews here before buying since it seems like many other encountered the same problem.

I own several Greenworks tools and am very happy with all of them. The Greenworks 40v edger is perfect for keeping my lawn looking neat and clean. My old electric edger was always a challenge to use because of the long cord needed to keep it running. When it finally broke I really wasn't disappointed. I considered a gasoline option but was reluctant because I don't need it every time I cut the lawn. The battery powered unit is the best of both worlds. Offered at a reasonable price point, it is highly maneuverable with no cords to drag around but also no gasoline to store. It has a good weight to it, not too heavy but also doesn't have a cheap feel to it either. Is just the right length and super easy to put together. Because of its simplicity I find myself edging the lawn mower frequently and I actually enjoy using using this tool.

My own 40v batteries didn't fit. I talked directly with the greenworks people, this model is not sold in Canada on the greenworks website because it requires a different 40V battery, "GW Elite" batteries. Chances are, if you already own greenworks equipment, your batteries won't fit. You can buy the battery+charger separately combo but that defeats the purpose of buying tool-only, and you'll have multiple kinds of 40V batteries.

Tool did not work! Was shipped via "Seller King" in "as new". I returned it via Canada Post ($54 for shpg & insurance). Received partial refund ... $99.33 less than what I paid. Am left with approx $150 debt and no tool.

Great looking tool, bought it “Used” from the Warehouse section for a great price, but it Did not fit my Greenworks 40 volt batteries. From what I can figure out, the USA has a different Greenworks 40v platform and my Canadian bought batteries do not fit it. This tool seems to be manufactured for the American market, I could spend a couple hundred bucks to buy the proper battery and charger, (GW Elite or G-Max I think) but that would negate any savings. Returned.

I purchased this string trimmer to add to my 40V Greenworks set, for maintaining about 3 acres of grass, wetland, and woods. It runs for 30+ minutes on a 4.0Ah battery, while I go through through tall grass and thick weeds at full throttle. The adjustable trigger throttle is a nice feature if you don't need to attack an area at full speed. However, whenever you let all the way off of the throttle, you have to give it a couple of seconds to run at a low speed before it spins up. I would guess that is a safety feature. Once the trimmer is up to speed (2-3 seconds) it goes right through tall weeds like they aren't even there. Be sure to wear safety glasses and avoid poison ivy as it will throw debris EVERYWHERE.The trimmer is nicely balanced and does not wear you out quickly. It has plenty of power with the 40v motor and the .080 dual feed string to eat right through tall, thick weeds. The only issue I have with it is tall grass. I have only tried it with the round line that comes with it, maybe a more aggressive line would help some. If you try to move too quickly into the tall grass, it will wrap the grass up in the head and you have to stop and pull the grass out before restarting. Not difficult, just annoying. In shorter grass (trimming after mowing) or going through weeds, this trimmer does EXTREMELY well.Bottom line: If you will mainly use this for cutting through 1-2 foot tall grass, it will be slow going. You may want to get a trimmer that has a replaceable head. If you are going through thick weeds or trimming medium length grass after mowing, this is a great trimmer and you will not be disappointed.
