I bought this to put in my food storage just in case the power outage or anything happens that we would need to grind something. And then I saw the quality and decided to give me one for upstairs as well. Very nice quality love it. I highly recommend this and the price wasn’t too bad either.

Great mortar. The size is perfect for guacamole and leafy herbs. The non skid base is a winner on our epoxy countertops. I expect this will last a very long time.

Really liked the solid feel of the set. It is also truly non-slip based on the base pad supplied with the item. Instructions for seasoning the mortar and pestle also included in the box and was a nice touch. I've used it already to grind some spices and some herbs and it seems like there are ridges designed in the mortar that help speed the process along. Super nice item and a very welcome addition to my kitchen.

[Unpolished black Granite Mortar and Pestle Set 2 Cups]50 grams of roasted peanuts to peanut butter in less than five minutes. And not just peanuts, I've made all kinds of nut butters with this thing.Food prep doesn't get much more manual than this. Beautiful, heavy, solid, easy to use and clean - highly recommended. Just wish that they didn't have to ship a couple of pieces of heavy rock from China.

First I love not just how Amazon packaged it, the boxes that were used was very thoughtful, THANKS AMAZON. YOU GUYS ARE GREAT. Now for the bowl, it's heavier than it appears. It's deeper than I expected, and stronger than it looks. I also didn't have to grip to it while grinding my cloves. Following the included instructions really bought out the flavor of my Chia tea.

The only downside is that it needs a good wash before use to get rid of the dust from manufacturing. This is a good mortar pestle, sturdy as heck. I have fine motor disability and this was still easy to use. The roughness of the stone helps with the grinding. The handle fits nicely and grips well. The non slip pad works well for the bottom, keeps it in place well. This will most likely last me a lifetime. Might even pass it down to my children 😄

Fantastic mortar and pestle! I was a little overwhelmed by the selection of granite mortar and pestles here on Amazon, but chose the Gorilla Grip Medium based on reviews and pics—looked sturdy, well made, and the reviews consensus agreed. And they were right—this thing is the prefect weight and does it’s job very well, and rinses sparkling clean with only water (after proper seasoning). I’ve been impressed and wonder how I got along without this thing for so long.If you’re on the fence about size—the medium (6”) is a good adequate size for those cooking for 2-3 people, maybe even for 4, depends on appetites. Largish quantities of spices and aromatics are no problem, what I am talking about here is guacamole or pesto.Seasoning was easy enough—my second batch of rice came out white, but I did a third round, filling the mortar cup about 3/4 full of rice to focus on grinding at the sides; it’s easy to grind away at the bottom and the overall lower bowl during seasoning, but the sides are a little trickier...! Finished my seasoning by smashing to a paste two batches of garlic/ginger/cumin seeds/coriander seeds, spreading it evenly all over the interior of the mortar and over the pestle, and then letting it sit on overnight (12 hours). A little excessive? Yeah, but it allowed me to use and bond with this great new kitchen ally, and it’s now easy to rinse very clean with no trace of odor/residue lingering within the unpolished granite whatsoever. Highly recommend this mortar and pestle!
