WARNING:The third time I attempted to use this, I slid the hydrometer down the test jar and it kept going - right through the bottom of the jar. It is very thin glass and seemed to break very easily. I just ordered another one and, next time, I'll make sure there is liquid in the jar before I put in the hydrometer.Btw, I tried just using the hydrometer in a large (32 oz.) jar and it went right to the bottom - didn't float. I'm new to this but it seems that the test jar is needed.
