This is the 3rd variation of ice makers I installed in my Bar, and this one is the quietest. Within 6 hours after turning it on for the first time, I had a full bucket. After that, it filled the bucket every 3 hours. My previous broken ones had different form factors (square & traditional), and I am glad I finally got a nugget one that works with ease, is quiet, and has a small form factor.

I bought this with a decent amount of research. We like the design...the controls are a bit confusing. It makes ice well. The main issue is that this unit is LOUD. The making of Ice is LOUD, there is a situation where the unit was so repeatedly loud that that I had to pull the plug because it sounded like it was chewing bolts inside. I wrote the folks a GEVI, they asked me to send the information about my order, then asked me to VIDEO the unit from Power on to the error... not unreasonable I will do it and update this afterward. If you want a unit to make ICE quietly... this unit is not for you.

I had an original Opal (from FirstBuild) that finally gave up the ghost. I considered the new Opal models but they are still just as pricey as they were years ago and haven't changed enough to make it worthwhile. I was disappointed in the Opal's ice bin with all the little corners that required detailed cleaning and the latest model didn't appear to improve on that aspect. This Gevi model has so many components that are almost identical to the Opal though, from the interior of the water fill area and the back panel and tubing and how you fasten the tubes. But it also has a lot of nice improvements, like the ice bin being much smoother and avoiding the pain points of cleaning it.It's also quieter than the Opal and can be connected to a dedicated water line (better than Opal's extra-capacity water tank), but I haven't pursued that option yet.The way you fill the water bin is interesting and a little unusual at first (as you can leave the ice bin in place and pour water over the door when it's pulled open), but it all makes sense with how you can pull the bin out and water will drip and run back into the tank.Ice making seems about on par with the Opal, possibly a little slower, but it makes ice very well and quickly once it's started. And the design with the insulated walls and the door that closes the ice bin inside seems to keep the ice cold much longer as well. This model doesn't have an interior light, however, which makes it a little challenging to see the water level at times, which I would say is probably the only downside other than the price point (which is still significantly less than an Opal).

I'd hate to wax poetic but I like it. It works. I've had this ice machine for over a month and I've used it just about every day. I'll do a pro and con list.Pros1. Easy to set up plug it in let it run for like 2 hours run a water cycle2. easy to use its got 2 modes of ice when it's off you can change the size of the ice bullets3. fairly easy to clean its a button and takes maybe 10 mins to run a cycle I normally run 24. makes a nice amount of ice for a single person. I love ice and put it an almost every drink I live alone and I don't have any complaints about the amount that's made5. ice making is steady.Cons1. the ice is not held cold like ice in a refrigerator freezer (the chamber is not a cooler) so it pretty much melts the instant its dropped or when it's put in a drink.2. it can be kind of loud the wiring noise can have me questioning the motor3. I kind of wish it came apart more for through cleaning4. It takes 10 minutes to make ice so I have to wait 20 mins to have partially melted iceSo my review, I work its expected with what I spent I would definitely prefer a fridge with ice maker but my small apartment didn't come with one.

Our freezer doesnโt have an ice maker and I hate trays. We also have limited counter space. This machine takes up less space than my Keurig. These are bullet ice cubes in a large (which isnโt very big, maybe the tip of your finger) and small (not tiny pellet ice like Sonic). However, we use filtered water to make the ice and it comes out pretty soft. When itโs in water for a few seconds, the ice is soft enough to crush on the roof of my mouth with my tongue. I like chewing ice and this method protects my teeth. Iโd definitely buy this, again, so long as it holds up. Iโve had it 30+ days and itโs only off mostly at nighttime, so we donโt hear it run. Itโs not very noisy. Ice takes about 7 mins to make. Turn it on and give it about 30 mins and youโll have enough ice to fill two big tumblers. Recommend this over Frigidaireโs ice maker which quit after 6 weeks.

It came professionally and purposefully packaged. Right out of the box we read the simply simple instructions, paying attention to the " dos and don'ts". Filled it with water, pushed 2 buttons and eight minutes later...Walla !!! ICE BABY !!!!!. The machine ran non stop the next hour and filled the bucket. We have used it three times when entertaining and it is so easy to have readily available ice now. Besides that, the sheer joy my wife gets hearing the ice drop is refreshingly good. Glad I chose this model. Actually I bought two.

Bought this thing on May 24, 2022. Item has now failed, and I see no way to contact seller for warranty. Seller clearly says in the Q and A that return policy is 1 year, however, going through the Amazon return/warranty process says the window closed on Nov 22, 2022....6 months after purchase. Imagine that.
