Just what I needed to slice a 2” pvc pipe that was in a tight spot. Cut through pipe in less than 1 minute!

Couldn't actually get a cut started, just slides around the surface without making a scratch. Managed to get a dremmel in there (very tight space), and start the cut, then this was able to chew through the rest of the way.

Thankfully it gave up on the last cut. But it was only good for one project. About 12 cuts maybe 13. 🤔 through 1.5 Inch pvc. I didn't think it would bite as well as it did and it cut a pretty straight line. For $5 it did its job and I didn't have another plan for it but would have liked for it to have lived a little longer.

I bought this to cut a pipe off flush with an already installed Y joint in a plumbing drain system. It's impossible to start the cut precise with this so I used my sawzall to cut a small straight line in the pipe where I wanted to start. After that this was able to cut thru the 1.5" PVC pipe in about 5 seconds. Does warp the wire but I used it a second time with no issues. Even if it was 1 and done it was still worth the $5.

I needed to cut one piece of 3 inch PVC on my rainwater collection system. Like others, I couldn’t get it to start the cut. I used another saw to make a small starter cut and then was able to finish the job with this saw. However, when I finished, the cable was twisted into a tight corkscrew shape and is totally unusable.Glad I only needed it for one cut.

Like I said, I bought this to cut plastic, 4 inch, corrugated drainage pipes buried 6 inches deep on my property that needed to be removed. I had two pipes which had to be cut in several sections for removal. They were buried 6 inches deep among roots and vines and in tightly packed dirt. This tool was easy to push under the buried pipe and within about 5 to 10 cutting strokes, each pipe was cut. It went through them like a hot knife through butter. Still in good shape in case I ever have to do this again.

It takes up no room in your tool box, and when you need a straight cut where a conventional cutter won’t work, this likely will

Everything about this looked good until I needed it to work - unfortunately for larger diameter (+90mm) uPVC the steel cable is too smooth, so difficult to get a start and then really did not cut at all. It may work on smaller diameter PVC pipes and conduits due to getting a tighter encirclement, and I guess in a tight spot without any other options one may use it as a last resort and be very thankful- so perhaps good to have in the bottom of the tool box - but I wouldn't buy it again.

I recently bought an office chair that had very aggressive lumbar support. Due to the design, I was unable to remove it and it was too tight for a saw. The lumbar support holder was 2 inches of thick hard plastic. It was able to get through about 1/2 an inch of it then the cable broke. I grabbed a glove and held the shredded side and went at it again. It broke again about at the 1-inch mark. I repeated these steps with the other half and got to 3/2 of an inch and by then I could just rip it off with my hand. I didn't want to upload any pictures as to miss lead people into thinking it's junk and broke.Did it work for my odd job? yes, and it was worth the $6.Would this cut through PVC pipe? Oh easily and efficiently. I would reckon it would be great for light home projects. Would reccomend!

If you have a quick job and are really just going to use it for that one quick job, its hard to see oneself investing in a pvc cutting tool, especially when you need the right size. This old standby has always been a quick, cheap, and easy way to cut pvc pipe. It takes seconds to do and can be done easily. Here's the deal. Its not easy to cut with this tool either straight or with precision. I tend to think of this as more of a rough cut tool where you have some flexibility in the length you're trying to span.Would I buy this again? Absolutely, I have in a lifetime bought this same type of tool 3 times. And I'll probably buy it again, but because I've only needed it in a pinch. An actual pvc cutting tool however will cut clean, quick, and ON your measurement line in a straight line, IF you invest in the tool.
