The poorly designed spring-loaded cover on this otherwise nicely built box makes it not worth the high cost. Mine self-destructed after only a few uses. Once that happens you can't fix it. That appears to be a common problem judging by the negative Amazon reviews for the cover ( https://www.amazon.com/Generac-6393-Accessory-Power-Models/dp/B009ZRF7M0/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8 ). One reviewer's lid lasted one day:"This flip lid lasted exactly one day. My 11 year old son was showing his friends what he "helped" his dad install. He opened the lid and the spring popped out of its holder. I tried to put it back together but it's shot. If you decide to get this, don't open it past 90 degrees or it WILL break. "It will cost you $20 to replace. Fortunately, even though mine was out of warranty, Generac sent me another one after months of delay. I don't have high hopes for this one though because the design is so bad. I was willing to pay top dollar for something that I though would last forever, but now I wish I had bought a cheaper inlet box that wouldn't fall apart after just a few uses.Edit to add: Mine didn't break with use; it simply self-destructed; I walked by one day and it had come apart. I suspect that was due to the inadequate crimp at the end of the aluminum rod that holds the steel retainer in place. The difference in thermal expansions of steel and aluminum probably caused the aluminum rod to shrink faster than the steel retainer which allowed the retainer to slip past the barely perceptible crimp keeping it in place. If Generac would simply make a more robust crimp in the aluminum rod this problem wouldn't exist.

Surprisingly nice for the money. It feels like it is well built and sturdy. The Amazon store that I purchased from was quick to deliver which means that it arrived before the approaching storm. Being prepared meant that the power never went out during the storm.
