Works, had to flip around the plug. The metal knock out was almost impossible to remove.

Put it back in box and am returning it. It scored my connectors and was a helluva a lot of effort to disconnect. My reliance box was perfect.

I installed this outlet in an outdoor outlet box and wired into my house breaker box. We have power outages way to often and this has worked really well! I just plug in my generator and we can run everything we need to get by until the power comes back on. The plug is high quality and the fit for my generator cord is very good. It locks in and fits tight.

Writing this review just after installation. I used this box to hookup a generator to my house load center. While the box is solid, the knockouts on the box were insanely difficult to remove. I had to use so much force that I deformed the box itself. The knockouts welds are too thick. Even after getting the main portion of the knockouts out, I had to go around the edges with nippers and a file to cleanup the hole before I was able to get the adapter inserted. Needless to say, I was pretty angry. It didn’t help that CA is in the middle of a heatwave (it’s currently 100 degrees outside). There is plenty of room for the wire inside the box, I used 8 gauge wire.I bought this box because I liked the style and the price was right, however I would not recommend this box.

This box is in the same ballpark price as a plastic box. I really like the sturdiness and resilience from the sun and elements that it affords. I don't have my generator cord yet, so I can't tell you if when it plugs in, that there is enough room to close the cover and lock it. It appears that there may not be room to completely close the cover over the cord- time will tell. Either way, this box looks like it will keep the rain out while in use, either way. I did not hook it up yet, but I can't see any issues there. I would recommend this box over another box made of plastic, even though I have not put my hands on a plastic box. Even if plastic will last for years, I like the thought of having metal in the even that there is ever an electrical short or sparking.

The tabs in the 2 corners was loose. Spot welder didn't work? also Knox out plugs was impossible to knox out the smaller plug. summary ; great heavy gauge steel, very strong but with manufacturing problems.
