J'étais un peu sceptique quand je l'ai commandé. Mais je l'ai installé sans problème.

Had Generac attempted to install this lid per their own direction on a Generac 6338 50-Amp Power Inlet Box they would have instantly realized that the hole patterns on the lid does not come close to aligning with the holes on the inlet box. What's more puzzling is the seller receiving multiple feedback claiming the same issue over and over and does not bother to alert potential buyers that "LID DOES NOT WORK WITH GENERAC 6338". Unfortunately, this buyer did not read the reviewers feedback before purchasing and issue could have been avoided had seller included a warning in the description. On a positive note, the seller did provide an immediate and full refund once item was returned.

Even though Generac says this is the correct lid for the 50amp inlet it does not screw on without you modifying the receptacle. The receptacle has a 4 hole pattern and this has a 3 hole pattern. Even after talking with Generac customer care support, they couldn't answer why they didn't match, nor had a solution. I ended up returning the item as I did not want to drill holes into my receptacle.Rating of 3 stars is because it does seem like stable product.Generac support seemed to stumble on support of their accessories if you don't have a complete Generac system. I only purchased this and the transfer switch for my portable generator.

I got (3) as spares, one for son & others just incase one brakes.Have had a "GenTran-Model" Flip Lid on my Power Inlet Box now, for the past 12years w/o any issue. It gets used at least 6 times a year, when runing the generator. But since GenTran Corp sold out to Generac in Feb. 2012, & Generac is now Homelite, & I don't know how much longer they will be around. As a Side note; sorry to see the GenTran Power Stay Generator Panel as will as Generac Manual Transfer Switch are all gone way the wayside.

Cheapo spring in hinge. Broke first week, be ready to add a clip or something to hold it closed.

Comes with hardware and instructions for installation, which is not difficult but not easy either. Just be patient when installing to line up the bolts, this cover and the inlet and don't over tighten the bolts. Cover seems to be durable, will see hot long it holds up.

I bought the lid and installed it on a Generac 6343 power inlet box (prior to installation of the box into service). It installed easily and neatly covers the inlet power plug. It closes with a resounding thud due to the nicely adequate spring inside the flip lid's hinge. While I will still probably have to fight paper wasps and other insects from the underside of the box, they will be unable to build their nests or cocoons around the male pins of the inlet power plug, which was my goal for the lid.

The spring loaded, foam gasket, plastic flap covers the recessed male plug for a generator power inlet. It reduces the rate at which the contacts will corrode. It keeps wasps etc. from making nests in the recess, which is otherwise only too attractive to them. The design is well thought out and executed, and the fit is exact. The cover is more convenient to install before the power inlet box is installed while it is still loose in the hand. The 3 screws attaching the power connector to the box are removed and discarded. The connector wiring is disconnected so that a foam gasket can be placed between the power connector and the power inlet box. After reconnecting the wires, the cover and connector are the attached to the power inlet box with 3 longer screws provided with the cover. Holding the spring loaded cover open and aligning the cover, connector, and gasket to the screw holes in the box and getting the first screw started requires some dexterity and a minute or two of patience if the first try doesn't leave the flap swinging in the desired direction. My own experience after 30 years in the same house is that the spring loaded plastic cover and foam gasket are likely to last 12-15 years outdoors in New England. That will be longer than the generator the power inlet box was installed for (10 years on average) but while the power inlet box will last indefinitely, the cover probably won't out last a second generator, and would be wise to replace it when the generator is, assuming it uses the same power connection. As a final observation, the Generac brand power inlet cover (and power inlet box) appear to be functionally identical to, and interchangeable with, the same products sold under the Gentran brand name, the only difference being the marking.

Works ok but about twice the price I figure it's worth; but, once you've bought their box, you're stuck with their flip lid. Definitey not commercial quality and probably won't hold up except for occasional use. So be sure before you buy their boxes that you're ok with their lid if you can't get a reasonably priced combo.
